A lot of times you seek out relationships with what you get out of it in mind. Instead of trying to compensate through relationships, try being completely independent, and simply bringing your unconditional love to a person. You do not need them to be happy, or be complete, to care about yourself or be interested in life, but you very much care for them and are interested in their life. You take good care of yourself. Ask not what your relationship can do for you, ask what you can do for your relationship. After all, you create it.
P.S. As a further explanation of this epiphany. I learned I had emotions in my relationship based on neediness. You shouldn't need anything from your partner in order to be happy or at peace. You should already be happy and content, and allow the unconditional love for your partner as a natural result to flow forth. Giving and loving without need or expectation. Simple happiness, and the sharing of that joy with others including your partner in a relationship.

Epiphany
Writing down things I think I need to remember. Way too often, I realize or learn something, only to forget it and let it pass my mind a few hours later. So when I think of something along those lines, it'll go here, or in a notebook, or whatever. ^^
