A short 45 minutes to the mansion. The clouds and lack of sun caused the deserted road he took to appear more foreboding. The dim street lights cast more shadows than light, causing Alex to rely on his car more. The high beams molded to the scenery around him. City housing, public building, random car. The common city scene. The only problem, this place was one of the last standing cities. Rijkon, where Alex is currently, Stanthii, the capital, and Yepin, where the last major cities. The rest were bombed due to their positions close to the nation's border. Their were few small towns, rebuilt from ruins by those that felt pangs of nostalgia, and outposts scattered around here and there. There locations not mapped, (it's safer that way) you only know where they are if you're there, or someone tells you. No one ever tells you.

Alex drove up onto the long driveway leading to the mansion. The gravel path crunched under his tires. To drown out his small boredom, Alex began tapping on his steering wheel with his fingers. He pulled up to the security checkpoint. He pulled out his ID and held it ready.
"Oh I don't need to see that, I know who you are." Jack smiled at him. Alex met Jack during his time of service in the 24th regiment, a decorated group of soldiers under command of the now General Phillips. When Alex's squad was wiped out besides himself, (because he was injured) he was put in with Jack's.
"I did it in case you forgot." This was obviously making fun of the time Jack forgot to take the safety off his gun.
"Someday...someday." Jack smiled and Alex laughed. "You better get going," Jack nodded his head towards the mansion, "She's waiting for you."
"Which one?"
"Both." Alex sighed and drove past the checkpoint. The force barrier went up behind him shortly after. The Stanthian tech aloud for immense quantities of energy to be put in use, by only consuming a short amount. That was the Stanthian's strong point. With that ability, to make use of technology with phenomenal results. Alex drove to the parking area reserved for security officials. With the car turned off, he proceeded to the doorway, nodded at the men guarding it, and went inside. Alex was most definitely not looking forward to this day.
