When I woke I was laying flat on my back on the softest bed I'd ever known, I quickly looked around wondering where I was and was started to find a woman sitting by the bed. She looked up from something she was mending and smiled, "Your awake...oh blessed be. Are you hungry?" I blinked and nodded, I didn't understand why I was excepting food from this person but I knew if I didn't eat something quick I was going to die. She brought me a bowl of stew, and without a second thought I dove right in. With in seconds the meal was gone and I handed her the bowl. She got up and got me a little more then sat back down and watched me eat this one more carefully. When I was finished she handed me a mug and told me to drink up while she cleaned out the bowl. I didn't have to be told twice, the liquid inside tasted bitter but it quenched my thirst nicely so I drank it in big gulps. Once I had consumed everything she had given me she laid me back down, I suddenly felt very sleepy and didn't find any trouble giving in to the need to sleep again. The next time I woke I was alone in the cabin. I looked around, the door was open and I could hear voices floating in from the outside. I sat up and swung my legs over the side of the bed, they felt fine. No pain at all, I stood up and walked to the door. The air outside was cool, the lady who had watched over me was outside tending a small garden, there was a man out there tending to animals. Just as my feet touched the top step both turned and looked at me, the suddenness of it made me hesitate. Both smiled and beckoned me forward, "Morning...you look like your feeling better...are you hungry?" I blinked at the woman and shook my head; the man walked over and examined me. After a moment he smiled, "I didn't think you'd recover...you were almost dead when I found you. But my wife’s healing tonics have always worked wonders. I just want you to know that you can stay here as long as you like...I will teach you everything I can." I nodded not sure why I suddenly trusted this family; people of the world had never come to my village’s aid before...why should they care now. "Can you teach me to fight...and handle a weapon?" The man and his wife glanced at each other uneasily, "Yes...I can."
I nodded vowing then and there that I would get revenge for my family...they would pay!
