When I awoke the next morning the sun hadn't even peeked at the sky, yet, the farmer and his wife were awake sitting near the fire. When I sat up they turned to me, Annie handed me a large bowl filled with mouth watering stew, I ate quietly knowing that they were upset that I was leaving. Once the food was gone she took the bowl back and turned to her husband and nodded. Tom walked to a trunk near the door and produced a satchel. He allowed Annie to fill it with a jar of custard, bread, cheese, a large flagon of water, and some dried pieces of meat. Once she was done Tom pushed a large pouch filled with coin into the satchel and snapped it closed. I was given a thick warm cloak that would protect me against the harshest of weather and a walking stick that was about my height. There were silent tears as I set off on my own for the first time in my life. There had always been a man to care for me, but vengence filled my heart as I stared ahead.
I would find the men that hurt my family and kidnapped my friends, they would pay.
