Well since I cant seem to get to sleep right now I might as well write. LOL.
This entry will be split up a bit.
First I'll write about my grandparents.
My grandparents on my mothers side live here in in America. They are the ones I close to. My father's still live in Ierland, As soon as dad joined the airforce they went back to the homeland, lol.
Grandmother is half Irish and Cherokee Native American.
Grandfather is pure Irish 100%.The thing about grandfather's grandparents is that they were cousins and so were their parents. I was really shocked to learn that, I didn't know what to think, they must have been distant cousins is all I can say, I never asked about it. Anyways So I am mostly Irish and I have a bit of Cherokee blood in me.
Granddad met Grandmother at a football game, He was a quarterback on one team, and she was a cheerleader for the other. He was really nervous when he asked her for a date, while her friend was gawking at him and telling him to hurry up and ask her.
He was 18 she was 15. I always thought the story of their first date was funny the way grandmother would tell it. She thought he was a jerk!
He offered her a cigarette, she said no thank you she didn't smoke and he told her he would'nt have given her one anyway, and a whole bunch of other stuff through out the night. She said she couldn't wait for the date to end and when he drove her home, he walked her to her house, great grandpa was fishing down by the creek near their house and had a lantern burning, as soon as the lantern went out grandpa grabbed grandma and kissed grandma that sent her head spinning. She said never in her life had she ever been kissed that way, plus this was the 50's back then so yeah. But after that she fell in love with him, even though he was the most boring person in the world, and the most shyest guy you could never get to talk to you. Well anyways they were a couple for like three years and got married when she was 18. Grandpa was going to be sent into the Airforce so he asked her to marry him, she was afraid she would lose him forever so she did. They had a really cute married life, they went to the clubs and house parties. Grandma was 22 when she heard the f word spoke in public for the first time in her life, a guy had said it in front of her, and all the men gained up on him, she told me women were really protected back then, same thing happend to me one time but thats another story.
Anyways, when grandma was 22 she had my Uncle and Aunt. The twins.
Grandpa was sent to Vietnam.
When he came back he had a baby boy in his arms, He had found my uncle kai's village destroyed and everyone had been killed all except a 2 month old baby, when grandpa saw him he said his heart melted and he knew he would protect him always, and so thats how Uncle Kai is my uncle. He was raised in America and adopted by my grandparents, 2 yrs later my mother was born. Her and Uncle Kai are the closest. She followed him everywhere, and he protected her like a big brother should. They never once thought that they weren't related by blood. Come to think of it they still dont.
Uncle Kai is soo funny, he's always playing pranks on grandma and grandma smacks him upside the head. He's my favorite uncle.
Uncle Kai lives in Virginia with his wife Alice, who he met in Ireland, go figure, and his two kids, my cousins John and Alice. So I guess they are half Irish and Vietnamese.
I have a huge family when I think about it. On both sides really.
Oh well I would never trade my family for nothing.
wink
I feel like I'm forgetting somebody.
Well I'm sure it will come to me soon, in the mean time, I'd like to thank you for reading this. I feel like by doing this in a way once they are gone and someday I'm gone, we will never die because we will live on through a memory that I have shared with you. I thank you for that. 3nodding biggrin
