We've been traveling by horseback to a place that Leader knew to be the new village. The children ran about and around my horse, giggling and pushing each other. Haikri: Now Now...Stop being so horrible to each other. Oruki: Yes..of course Haikri-sama... I had ridden side saddle because of the elegant kimono edged with silver. Iyako had stuck individual snowflakes on the silk, and had lengthened the sleeves to where you couldn't see my arms. I delightfully accepted the kimono, and Kusuri explained how to put it on since I had never worn one. Kusuri had added her own touch to the garment, a lily of the valley perfectly preserved on the right upper arm. Surprisingly, the members of the Akatsuki did see me off. ..............
Itachi: You look beautiful. Haikri: *smiles* Goodbye Itachi. Next time we meet you'd better not be blind. Itachi: I won't be. Kisame huffed. Kisame: Goodbye Lilliea..Haikri. I bowed my head slightly. Deidara:... Haikri: *whispers* If I find out that you stop being an artist, I seriously will cry. Deidara: Hmph. Good Luck with that. Haikri: Zetsu...Keep them in line for me, 'kay? Zetsu: ..... Of course. *he handed her a box* Konan: If you ruin that Kimono I'm gonna kill you - it was really hard to get that silk. Haikri: I'm certain that it will be bloodstained later Konan. Konan: It better not be. Sasori: Give the girl a brake... See ya Haikri. Haikri smiled and nodded. After Hidan, Kakuzu, and Tobi, Haikri came to face Pein. Pein: *stare* Haikri: *bows head* Farewell. Rei helped her up her horse, and kissed her nose. Haikri: Thank you Love. he just smiled. ........
We traveled through bamboo forests, and bogs. Sheryl, I had to heal. She was the only one to be ill. Usually we wolvens don't get sick. I pulled my Akatsuki robe around my shoulders, and yawned quietly. Laurena: Tired Milady? Haikri: Oh no. I'm just fine. My arm still burns like fire, and I would clench my fist when it hurt, but wouldn't show it on my face. Iyako pulled her horse next to mine. Iyako: You are tired. Don't lie to her. Lakkarn: Yea Haikri, don't lie! Laurena bit his ear. Lakkarn: OW. Laurena huffed with satisfaction. Damian pranced in wolven form beside Laurena, laughing. I pulled out that little wooden box Zetsu had handed to me. I opened it carefully, and a little card sat there, among flower petals that I didn't know names for.
Card: When your reading this, you will be far from the hideout, but I'll always be within reach. the card was silvery, and under it was a normal sized sprout, which had numerous colors. Card: Plant this in your office, or where ever you spend your days, and remember me. I smiled in delight. Haikri: *I wonder what kind of plant it is...He always knew I loved plants and such..* I closed the box, and kept it on my lap, tracing the grooves in the wood. Damian: How much further? I didn't hear him, and Iyako had spoken up. I was tracing a symbol in the lower left corner of the box. It still seems recognizable to me. Iyako: Lady Omnikage? Lady Safaia? Haikri: Oh...Umm. What is it Iyako? Iyako: We are to be arriving soon. Rei walked the whole way, in his human form. He had gathered the children, and gotten them all on a wagon in the back of the procession. He walked beside Laurena, holding my free hand. We seemed closer together than ever before in those minutes.
There, in a concealed meadow, stood an old rickety building. It was a standard Japanese house, with working sliding doors. Sheryl let the children off the wagon to go explore as Rei lifted me down from Laurena's back, twirling me in the air before setting me down. Rei: We'll have a new life here...once it's fixed up a bit. His emotionless green eyes stared at the old house. Haikri: It will be as good as new, don't you worry. The other men in the clan started cut down nearby trees, and assembling walls for their own houses, while Makoto, Nadare, and I scoped out the new/old house. Makoto sneezed. Makoto: It's dusty in here. Nadare: That's why it needs cleaned dufus. they ran around in their socks, their feet leaving prints on the floor. I breathed in the sweet air, and went around opening all the doors. I put a hand to my mouth and shouted to the other women unloading. Haikri: Hey! I could use a bit of help cleaning in here! Kusuri: We're coming Haikri-sama! Nadare ran back and forth with supplies until she recommended that we just pull the cart up to flank the house. Makoto slipped on the floor, and chipped a tooth in the process...and thats when We decided to take off socks so it wouldn't happen again. Kusuri: Iyako?!?!? Did you pack a broom???? Iyako: NADARE! Nadare: I'M STANDING RIGHT BESIDE YOU! WHAT IS IT? Iyako stared at her unpleasantly. Iyako: Go check to see if the broom is on the wagon. Haikri: Worry NOT! I have the broom! *geeky smile* I twirled the broom around in my hands and pretended to stab an invisible enemy. Haikri: Fear not Kusuri-sensi!! I will save...you..? Rei stepped into the house and stared. Rei: let me take that.. He took the broom from my hand gently and went to deliver it to Kusuri. I sighed. Haikri: Well....It was fun while it had lasted... *pout* Rei: Maybe I can see the Samurai in action later. He tickled me a little, then went back to work. Kusuri: *yells* Ya know? He really is amazing! He got me a broom when I NEEDED it. I grabbed a sponge from the wagon as I laughed. I formed water in my hands as I became quiet, grabbing soap to wash the grimy floors. Haikri: Wow...this floor is so dusty that water even makes it look better. Iyako: I'll take that. she grabbed the sponge from my hand and I pouted. Haikri: I am not angry I am not angry. I am not angry. IYAKO!!!!!!!!!!!! I. CAN. CLEAN. SOME. FLOOR. MY.SELF! I took the sponge from her hand and fell on the wooden floor laughing. Makoto came over and jumped down on me laughing. Haikri: Opf! hehehe *giggles* Makoto: Wolf pile! Nadare jumped on top of her as they all laughed. Haikri: all right! OFF! hehe! OFF I SAY! OOFF! The two girlies climbed off, still laughing. Nadare grabbed the sponge and took off, holding it for ransom. I chased her through the house, yelling "I'M GONNAS KILL YOU NADARE!" Haikri: Shadow Possession jutsu! ^ ^ Nadare shivered. Nadare: Nooooooooooooo! I plucked the sponge out of her hand and tip toed back to the now labeled 'Living room'. I let her escape the jutsu as I started scrubbing the floor. Kusuri: Haikri-sama! you really shouldn't! Haikri: *Evil glare* I. Will. CLEAN. THE FLOOR! Kusuri scampered to clean out the kitchen in the back of the house. Iyako: Bathroom is in better shape now. I got a picture in my mind as she put her hands on her hips: SUPER IYAKO! CLEANING HOUSEHOLDS EVERYWHERE!!! I tried not to laugh. Sheryl: I prepared a small garden out back, so we can start growing crops and things. Haikri: Thank you Sheryl! That was very thoughtful of you. ^ ^ She grabbed another sponge and slipped off her sandals, setting to work in the window-panes. Haikri: I hadn't even thought of the doors.. Oruki came to the door, carrying numerous boards. Haikri: Oruki? What are those for? Oruki: Framework for a bed. I had help from your husband. Rei appeared behind him with a backboard. Rei: Have you ladies finished the Bedroom yet? I stayed quiet. Kusuri yelled again from the a room far back in the house. Kusuri: YES! IT'S READY! COME THROUGH THE BACK DOOR! Oruki and Rei went around the house to set up the bedroom with Kusuri's help. I kept my eyes on the floor, scrubbing the same spot until Sheryl took my arm in another direction. Kamareru: Where's the sign supposed to go? Iyako directed him somewheres and I kept working, happy that we had all started making a new life here..but...where was here? Haikri: IYAKO! We need a NAME! For the Village! Iyako: I'm sure it will come to your mind eventually! Kamareru hammered on the side of the house. Iyako came back to the door. Iyako: Kamareru got you a sign for your home Haikri-sama. Haikri: What does it say? Iyako: Omnikage Lilliea of course. I smiled at the floor. Haikri: Sound's good enough to me... The floors were finally all clean, and I walked around with the broom, getting cobwebs out of the ceiling corners. Haikri: Iyako! I just realized something!!! Iyako: What is it? Haikri: Is the roof ok? Iyako: What do you mean? Haikri: Does it leak! If it does we'll have to replace it! Iyako: We'll have to see when it rains! I tossed the broom back in the wagon, and walked down two steps to the ground, remembering the feel of grass between my toes. Haikri: Hey Iyako! Your house is almost built!^ ^ They're putting floors in and finishing the roof and the doors! Iyako: That's great Lady Omnikage! Makoto ran in circles in the grass, never really been on it before. Makoto: Auntie! *hug* What's this green stuff called? I laughed a bit. Haikri: That's grass Makoto. Makoto shoved it in her mouth. Haikri: NO! Spit that out! hehe! You can't eat that! Makoto: Why not? Haikri: Well..Umm... It'll hurt your stomach.. Makoto spit it out immediately, and started running around telling Nadare:"Don't eat that green stuff! It'll hurt your stomach!" I found Rei and Oruki working on more furniture. I started peeling the inside of a tree to make some mats for the floor, and tied the ends to one of the branches. Rei: Nice job love. I smiled up at him. I hoisted the mat over my shoulder, and carried it back towards the house, Makoto helping me. I spread it out on the floor, and breathed in the woody scent. Rei had followed us back with a top of a table, which he nailed the legs to once Oruki had caught up with him. Haikri: What's next? Rei: *waves* A chair or two. Sure enough, when I had moved on to help Iyako set up her things, Rei had made four chairs, a bureau, a bedside table, the framework for a couch, and a stand for a mirror. I was uncontrollably amazed by everything he did. Later on in the day, The men had built a smaller house for Sheryl and the kids, and completed Kusuri's by a nearby river. It was all coming together. I was going through my things, and found a small flowerpot. On the bottom of it, written in Japanese, was the name 'Zetsu'. I retrieved dirt from the garden that was dug by Sheryl, and rummaged around in my things for the wooden box. I opened it and removed the sprout, placing it in the soil, and watered it a little. I set it in the window in the bedroom, smiling joyously. I started unpacking my clothes and things, and formed a mirror out of water(Don't ask me how). I had taken a mattress from the Akatsuki hideout, and slid it onto the bed frame, placing a quilt over top. I didn't know what the other's would do for their beds. Oruki: Haikri! Haikri! Oruki slid on the wood floor. Oruki: *pant* A tree fell on Rei! Haikri: *Oh no.* Oruki ran off, and I followed, running franticly where ever Oruki led me. Sure enough, Rei had gotten himself caught under a tree, which I had to get off of him. Rei: Thank you love. Haikri: You Idiot. Kamareru: You know Rei...you really are pathetic..having to be saved by your wife... Haikri: Come on kids... Damian: ..Sister.. On Damian's shoulder perched a falcon. Damian: I don't think we can live here on our own. We'll have to call a village for assistance. Haikri: I suppose your right..but still, having people from other nations is risky.. Hari: We could just erase their memories..and they become one of us... We decided to send a plea for a young weaver and the finest workmen...To the Village Hidden in the Mist. I grabbed Makoto's hand, and Oruki and Nadare followed.
Hours later, everyone had been settled in their new homes. The door to the house was still open, my feet hanging off the side. The stars had just come out. Rei: They're beautiful aren't they? Haikri: They are. He sat down beside me and offered me a drink from his mug. I accepted it, and handed it back to him. Rei: It's a bit cold out here...Do you want me to get your coat? Haikri: No..It's fine. I leaned against his warm side, closing my eyes as he ran his fingers through my hair. Rei: I never thought this would happen..I'd never thought that I would marry you, whom everyone thought was dead...Who would have guessed you being so beautiful... This is so..unpredictable, having our own village..a whole new life... I let my eyes close as he kept talking. Rei: It's so amazing that you balance these things so well..the stress of being the Omnikage, but still...you joke and play with the children...it's just not comprehendable... Haikri: Rei..when I was forced to marry you, I hated you. I didn't even know who you would be. Yet, I found this man who finds every word to say..and love me with them. You amaze me with how you do things...things I never knew you could do. I went on, talking of my old life in Kohona, my training, and Tsunade. Haikri: It was so hard...never being told where I had came from...who my parents were...even the other students in my class hated me because of my expertise....*laughs* I was a total social outcast...they would laugh when they would see my training against my own imagination.... Rei: Love. If there was anyone is this world...predestined enough to become a village leader it would have been you anyway...Just think..the children will be starting their training tomorrow, and Iyako is bound to have some new from the Village Hidden in the Mist by then.... It seemed like an odd place to stop. Rei: Love, get in the house. I'm serious. Haikri, get in the house. Haikri: But..Rei! What's going on? Rei: Haikri! Get in the house! Stay away from the windows...! He shoved me through the door, and closed it behind him. I saw his shadow against the door. I walked quietly into the bedroom, and sat between the bed and the wall, out of sight. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rei shifted his eyes to wolven to see better in the dimmer moonlight. *Teleportation Jutsu!* Rei held a kuni knife against someone's neck. Rei: Who are you? Who are you working for? Tell me! Person: MY name, *turns to face Rei* is Sasuke Uchiha....I work for no one. I came here of my own will. Rei: Are you sure of that..Sasuke? He pushed him into the light, realizing that he hadn't been lying. Rei pulled Sasuke up off the ground. Rei: What are you doing here!?!? Sasuke: I came to tell you about some Kohona shinobi heading this way..unfortunately..Kakashi's with them... Rei: *Love?* Haikri: *You're not hurt are you?* Rei: *No. ...It's Sasuke.* ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I ran out of the house, shutting the door behind me. I practically made Rei tip over from a hug. Sasuke: Were you that scared? *pout* Haikri: Are you sure you didn't lead someone here? Sasuke:...Umm..about that.. I shook his shoulders. Haikri: PLEASE DON'T TELL ME YOU LED SHINOBI HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sasuke: Please...not so loud... I spotted a group of Kohona shinobi not far from here. Haikri: Is there anyone important with them? Sasuke: Kakashi..and Tsunade...and Naruto..ooh and Shikamaru Nara too! I just stood there. Could it be all over..when my new life had just begun? I assembled the clan in my house, and told them the situation. Haikri: Damian, Iyako, and I will have different names...Damian: Roji , Iyako: You'll take Laurena's name, and I will be Karin. Do you understand? Oruki, Nadare, Makoto..Do you understand? Oruki: We'll make sure each of us don't slip up Karin. I nodded. Haikri: I..guess..that's it then...You can all go home.. Hari touched Iyako's shoulder and led her out, followed by the rest of them. The door closed behind Kusuri, and I sighed. Rei held one of my hands. Rei: You see? You were destined for this... He leaned over and kissed me, and I blushed. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz I awoke for the light through the window, and the smell of food. I got up and watered the little plant Zetsu had given me, and pulled on Peasant's clothes, instead of the expensive looking Kimonos. I walked through the halls, sticking my head around a corner to see Rei cooking something on the stove. I tip toed into the living room, and opened the front door, grabbing the broom to sweep off the steps. I looked up for where I had been sweeping...The Sign! The Sign still said Lilliea! I quickly reformed the kanji into a 'Welcome' sign, and picked up my broom again. Rei: What are you doing up so early?!? I was gonna bring you breakfast... Haikri: That was very thoughtful of you love. I poked his chest with the broomstick. He pretended to run in fear back to the kitchen as I chased him. And he tripped me, catching me in his arms, letting the broom hit the floor. Haikri: Now that was just...'Dreadful'.. Rei: *laughs* No really, I was going to bring you breakfast.... *pout* Haikri: That's ok love. He set me down, and I grabbed a plate off the counter. Haikri: What's on the Menu...? Rei: Food. He took my plate from me, and shooed me away into the living room. He came in two minutes later, with a glass of water, and toast and sunny-side-up eggs. He set it on the table in front of me, and watched. Rei: Is your arm still hurting..? I looked at him. Haikri: Why? Rei: Just wondering... Haikri: It does..a little. I sat there, eating, and I stopped to see him still watching me, not blinking for a second. Haikri: Stop that! It's creepy. He blinked. Rei: Is it creepy...now? Haikri: Yes..It is. Don't you have something else you can go do? He stood up, and left down the hallway, coming back with my hairbrush. He sat behind me, and brushed my hair gently. I just sat there eventually, it calmed me a little. Rei: There. He grabbed my plate from the table, and returned the plate and hairbrush to said rooms. I stood up, and already decided what I would do next. Karin: I'll be back in a little while Rei! An 'Ok.' sounded from far back in the house, and I walked out the front door, closing the door behind me. I left my socks off, feeling newly moved dirt and grass beneath my feet. It was a long way to Kusuri's, but the morning was nice, the sun warming my back. Their door was open, and Kamareru sat there with Kusuri beside them, Oruki, Makoto and Nadare sitting on the grass in front of them. Kusuri waved joyously. Kusuri: Ah! Karin! You're here just in time! We've just started to make hammocks! Nadare and Mokoto turned their heads and smiled. Karin: Sound's like fun. Do you mind if I join you? I've never made one. Kamareru: We've got plenty of rope already made up and dried, so it would be waste to not use it. I sat down beside Oruki. Karin: All right Oruki-sensi! Show me how to make a hammock! ^ ^ Oruki didn't look up, and had a frightened look on his face. Oruki: *I-I-I'm teaching the Omnikage!?!?!?!??!* He handed me a large metal ring, and handed me a piece of rope. He tied a slip knot onto the ring, and pulled. Oruki: Now you just knot.... like this. He tied two ends of a piece of rope together, and made them twist in the middle, making a knot in the center( Looks like an '8' , with holes that a fist could fit through.). He tied this to the main slip knot. Oruki: Now.. you make four more slip knots, one to go on the left, one on the bottom left, one on the bottom right, one on the right. His hands moved quickly. He went through the steps again slowly, and showed me how to tie each knot, and had me practice before I would mess up on the real one. He only spoke to me if I said that I had thought I had done something wrong. Oruki showed me his, telling me that mine should be about double my arm width. I didn't ask why, and kept tying the knots in a rhythm like the others. Kusuri and Kamareru were working the same hammock at once, they both holding a ring. I stood up, and measured the width of the rope, just the length of my arms two times. Karin: What do I do now Oruki-sensi? He handed me another ring and smiled. Oruki: You know the drill Karin. Slip knot, eight knot, slip knot, slip knot, slip knot, slip knot.... Oruki's hands worked faster than his words. He was done with both ends of his a few minutes later, and he waited for Nadare and I to finish the other half. Kusuri looked up from hers, and Kamareru looked up too. Karin: What now Kusuri-sensi??? Kusuri just stared at the sky, seeing Roji run out to the road, whistling a low whistle. The falcon dived out of the sky, opening it's wings to slow itself. Karin: Kusuri-sensi? Makoto and Nadare quickly turned their heads back to their teacher, following my example. Kusuri: Oh.. Yes.. Now for the middle of your hammock, pick up a rope a inch or two longer than your hammock's width, and tie the ends of your slip knots on both sides of the rope. If one of you gets done earlier, help another. I tied the knots slowly, making sure that I didn't make a mistake. Nadare struggled with knots, and threw it down and walked off in frustration. Oruki: She'll be back... He set his finished hammock on the grass beside him, and worked on the knots near him on my hammock. I smiled. Karin: Why- Kusuri-sensi - can we not use fire jutsus to just melt the rope together, or make a kind of paste? Kusuri: Well, rope is wood, so it will burn. About the paste, it takes longer for it to dry. You don't want to be stuck with a drying hammock when you needed something to sleep in that night. I smiled. She was a great teacher. And so was Oruki. Kamareru: You ready to try these hammocks out or what? Makoto stood up immediately, her hammock over her shoulder. Oruki did the same with his. I tightened my last knot, and stood too. Nadare still hadn't returned... We made the long trek back to Sheryl's house, where she was getting help from Hari and Iyako building some flower boxes. She waved, and Makoto held up her hammock. Her mother gave her a surprised look, then returned to her work. A little further down the path, Roji ran towards us, with something in his hand. The Sensi's ignored him, and I handed my hammock to Kusuri to keep for a while. The children stared, all except Oruki, who knew it was none of his business to know what was happening. I walked steadily toward Roji, hoping for the best. He bowed his head, and stood there panting. Roji: Karin..here..is..the...reply.. My brother handed me a scroll, sealed with the Village of the Mist mark. I tore the seal, and unrolled the message. My eyes scrolled down the page, reading every word it contained. I rolled it back up, and handed it back to him. Karin: They will be sending us what we requested, (Thank goodness I had signed it 'Karin') but their also sending shinobi with them. And we are supposed to meet the workers at a nearby bridge, where the shinobi will leave them.... I am supposed to go with two others than my self... And I think it's going to be two of the kids.. They need the training anyway. Rei: You are not going alone with those kids. You could be ambushed by...them. Karin: Than I'm taking Oruki then. He's the most knowledgeable of the three, and the quietest. And that must leave me no choice but to let you go with me.....Rei. Rei nodded happily. ^ ^ Karin: They already sent out the workers, and they will reach the bridge by tomorrow, so we need to get there by tonight. Rei: I'll go pack... and saddle up Laurena and her brothers. Karin: No, don't saddle them. Oruki needs to learn how to ride without one. No bridles. They know to follow my orders. Rei left to go back to pack, and I joined the small group. Karin: Oruki! Your first mission has come! Pack your things- and bring that hammock. Oruki took mine from Kusuri, and draped it over his other shoulder, with some extra rope. Oruki: Thank Kusuri-sensi. That was a very valuable lesson. He handed my hammock to me, and ran into the house, coming out with a pack on his back. Karin: Good. You were ready already. He followed me back to my house, where Rei handed me my other robe, and my pack. Karin: * You had better packed me clothes that seem normal Rei..* He had on a vest (which he had stolen earlier, but taking off all signs that it was from Kohona), the normal jonin uniform. Rei: *There's regular peasant clothes for two days, and your white Kimono ^ ^ I liked that one the best.* I rolled my eyes, slipping on my sandles. We had let Laurena, Lakkarn, and Heart's Blood roam freely through out the forests around the village, and I whistled three notes to call for them. The Horses galloped from the east, Laurena bobbing her head up and down, Heart's Blood and Lakkarn behind her. Laurena: Milady? I smiled, and jumped unto Laurena's back, keeping the pack on my back. We had slipped the hammocks into our packs. Karin: Well Laurena, looks like you'll have to be a non-talk horse for a while. We're meeting some people at the eastern bridge. Laurena: From where I have traveled, I saw only one bridge within a ten mile radius of the village. It's a large stone one, the river's running through it. Rei: Sounds like someone knows where we need to be. He lifted Oruki up onto Lakkarn's back. Oruki: What am I supposed to hold unto? Rei: Your knees. And don't kick his sides. Lakkarn: Yea. I'll have to gnaw off your legs if you do little boy. *Grinds teeth together* Laurena: Cut it out Lakkarn, you're frightening him. Rei jumped onto Heart's Blood's back, and settled himself. Rei: Are we all ready? Laurena: Of course we are. *paws ground* Karin: *smiles* Hold on with your knees tight Oruki, or you'll fall. Move with his movements. Laurena started in a trot, and Oruki wobbled. Lakkarn: Kid! Stop being so tense, relax! I'm not going to throw you off! Oruki's shoulders relaxed, and he closed his eyes. Laurena brought it up to a canter, and then a full out gallop. Oruki kept his eyes shut, his hair whipping about his face. The horses strained to keep galloping, trying to get to that bridge as quickly as possible. Trees sped past and Laurena leaned from side to side. Her brothers followed closely. They kept at the same speed for about an hour more, and then Laurena came to a complete stop. Karin: Get off the horses. they need a brake. I slid off her back, patting her shaking body. Karin: Just walk.. we won't ride again until your better. Laurena raised her head to stare at me with one of her eyes. Laurena: Milady..we...are...not..tired yet... Karin: We will walk. Rest, and catch up with us. *THWUMP* Oruki was laying on the ground, scrambling to get up an dust himself off. Rei offered him a hand up, and Oruki accepted it. Karin: We walk from here. It's only a mile or two. Laurena: It's in... that direction..just...keep heading this way... She walked forward, stopping to point with her nose. Laurena: We'll find... you there Milady... Lakkarn just stared at the ground, not saying anything. Rei patted Heart's Blood's neck, and he closed his eyes with satisfaction. Heart's Blood: We'll....be there....Karin. Oruki walked around Lakkarn to rejoin Rei and I already walking off. Oruki kept silent, occasionally looking around for danger. The days were shorter now, and then sun was setting as we reached a old road leading to the bridge. I pulled my rope tighter around my shoulders as it started it get colder. We traveled a bit up river on our side, concealed still by thick woods. I helped Rei with a tent, while Oruki had brought his own, a gift from the Akatsuki members. They were both pitch black tents, and dark red inside. We put the tents back to back, both of them having no windows, and for protection. Oruki: Karin... I threw a stick on the fire and looked at him. Oruki: I think my legs have gone raw...from the riding. They hurt. Karin: I'm not healing you. You have to learn to ride, and this is the way to do it. He didn't complain. We all retired early to our tents, having been exhausted. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz I woke up in the morning, and grabbed my pack. Rei was still asleep. I walked up river a bit more and found a small lake. Karin: Well...Anything to get me up... I jumped in, bubbles all around me. I climbed back onto the bank, and took the Kimono from my pack, remembering that first impressions are the most important. I brushed my hair out of my eyes, and tied it back in a bun, parts of it falling back around my ears. I put on the White Kimono, and rolled up a sleeve, carrying the wet clothes back to camp. I hung them up on a nearby tree, blowing them dry with a wind jutsu. I folded them, and returned them to my pack. I stepped back into the tent, setting my pack against the wall of it. I touched Rei's face. It was cold. Karin: *You pervert...* Love, it's morning. * I said cheerfully* Rei: *opens eyes* Wow. Now I really do like that Kimono... I blushed, my long, transformed red hair brushed his face. Karin: Just get up already. Go wake up Oruki. I stepped out again to gather more sticks for the fire. It had been reduced to smoking ashes as of this morning. Laurena trotted into camp. Karin: They are not far behind are they? Laurena's head shook for a no. I pushed back a forelock of hair from her eyes, and put my head against her neck for a moment. Soon after, her brothers walked in, grazing on the grass that was available. Rei got out of the tent finally, and pushed Oruki's tent over. Oruki: Hey! HEY! His tent rolled a bit. Rei: Get up Sleepy boy. Lakkarn: Yea get up kid! I'm back to gnaw off your legs! Lakkarn ran circles around the tents, whinnying. Laurena got in his face and told him off. Karin: There's a lake upstream if you wanted to bathe. Take Oruki with you. Rei grabbed his pack out of our tent, and Oruki came out of his, half his hair standing straight up. Rei: Nice bed head.... Oruki: Thank you REI! *trys to smooth it back down* He started walking up river, Rei following shortly behind after kissing me. Karin: Don't push him in... Be nice. Sure enough, about five minutes later, I could hear a loud splash, and the river surged. I shook my head. I closed my eyes, and looked around near the bridge with my mind. Anything with outheat was a gray color. A bird flew in front of my vision, and oranges and reds and blues appeared for a moment. Karin: They're not here yet... How surprising... Ten minutes later, Oruki walked back into camp, water dripping from his hair. He turned to face me. Oruki: I.. HATE...your...Husband. His clothes were soaked, and he walked off to another part of the woods with his pack. Rei walked in a few minutes later. His clothes and hair were dry, his pack slung onto his back. Rei: .... They are not here yet? I shook my head. I walked along the river's bank and stared at the salmon swimming up stream. The water was clear, and it was easy to see the rocks at the bottom. I walked on, barefooted. The walls of the bridge were old: The rock was crumbling from its sides, the stone worn soft because of the elements. I closed my eyes again, and let my mind see. Seven figures were in the woods, Four of them on horses carrying bags. Karin: *Rei. They have come.* Laurena? Could you fetch Oruki for me? Laurena seemed to nod, and trotted off in another direction. Rei ran up beside me. Rei: *Are you sure they are not for Kohona?* I shook my head no. I walked halfway across the bridge, and waited, patiently standing my ground. The four on horses stopped, as three approached me. The tallest of the three-man cell was of a strong build, a long scar shown across his cheek bone. His head band was tied neatly around his forehead, blonde hair tied up in the back, with locks of hair framing in his face. There was a large Katana strapped to his back. A woman with blue hair followed beside him, along with a black headed boy. They all wore standard Village of the Mist shinobi outfits. I could tell the boy was the youngest, most likely chosen of the best in his class. The woman touched the blonde's shoulder, telling him to let her speak to me. I smiled pleasantly. Karin: You must be from the Village Hidden the the Mist! *I bowed my head slightly* Serenity: I am Serenity... We have to ask a favor of you... Karin: Hmm? What is it? Serenity stared at my bare feet. Serenity: We three shinobi would like to accompany the workers to your village. I hope it's not a problem. Karin: ...*They are going against the letter..* The letter stated that you would leave them here. Is there a problem with that agreement? Serenity: Dashiki, could you come here for a moment? The dark headed boy stepped forward, limbing. Serenity: Show her. Dashiki rolled up his right pant leg, and winced. A large bite mark was infected, blood running down his leg. Serenity: Do you have healers? Karin: I am one. I got on my knees, and looked at the wound. Karin: ...What did this to you? Dashiki: A unnaturally large Canine... I looked up at his face in horror. Dashiki: We didn't kill it...it got away.. Karin: I very much like Canines...what kind was it? Do you know? Rei handed me my medic kit, and I started to clean the wound. Dashiki: All I can remember was that it was large... and white.... much more powerful that a nin dog. Karin: *Damian you idiot...you've been hunting our allies..* Dashiki winced a little, and looked down at me, smiling graciously. Serenity watched amazed as I wielded my healing Chakra. Serenity: I never was good at healing... Oruki walked along the river with Laurena, and saw the others staring at him. He turned her head back to camp. Serenity: It would only be polite if you told us your names. Karin: How inconsiderate of me- Rei stepped forward. Rei: My name is Rei Takahasi, Karin is my wife. The boy that you just saw was Oruki, one of our students. Serenity: Who is the leader of the Village? Karin: I am the Omnikage... The girl seemed surprised that Rei was not the leader. The blonde spoke up, bored with being left out of the conversation. Oinari: Pardon me.. Omnikage, but I still would like to see your village, and assure the worker's safety. Karin: I understand completely.... You will come along. I stopped healing, and Dashiki stared at his healed leg in awe. Dashiki: How..? Karin: I'll just say that I have had a lot of practice.... Rei would you fetch Oruki and the other three? Serenity: Other three? I turned to stare at her, and stood. Karin: My horses. I turned to walk off the bridge, but the woman caught me by the shoulder. Serenity: I'm sorry if I seem so pushy.. Oinari is the captain of the squad... I just smiled pleasantly, and walked on, the horses following and their riders with clicking hoofs. By the time i saw Oruki again the camp was disassembled, everything packed away or burned. Rei carried my pack, and I stared. He gave a nod to me that it was his job, and I frowned. Karin: I am sorry I didn't bring more horses... Oinari: They are not necessary. We will walk. Oruki: ... Karin: Laurena. The mare walked to my side, and turned. Oinari stared suspiciously. Oinari: You don't saddle them? Karin: Oh no. The horses are more comfortable this way. Laurena bobbed her head up and down. Rei helped me up, and unfortunately, I had to ride side saddle because of the Kimono... Oruki jumped onto Lakkarn's back, and spurred him forward. Oruki: Move Lakkarn. I don't like these people. Lakkarn shook his head in distaste. Oruki kicked him harder, and Lakkarn jumped forward, dodging trees. Dashiki: Wait! Karin: He doesn't like people much. He's the best in his class.. Rei jumped onto Heart's Blood's back, and urged him forward to catch up with Oruki. Rei: I'll be back Milady. I nodded. Karin: ... Dashiki smiled, but the other two just frowned. Without warning to the others, Laurena surged forward, egar to run again. I could hear the others behind me. The worker's horses were slower with their packs and riding “equipment”. I held on with Chakra, my hands lying on my lap. The Mist shinobi had excellent speed, running along-side Laurena and the others. Laurena's long mane whipped around my face, but I refused to blink. Laurena galloped harder, kicking up dirt beneath her powerful hooves. She whinnied, and another whinny returned. She moved even faster now. Serenity stared as the horse's legs became so much of a blur that she could believe that Laurena was flying above the ground. She kept at the same speed for hours...The thud of her hooves on the ground were loud, stride lengthened. Karin: Laurena! That's enough. Her hooves slowed, digging into the soil beneath her. Her body was shaking, and her nostrils flared. Serenity: Why have we stopped? I slid off Laurena's back, and patted her neck. Karin: *smiles* She needs a rest. Laurena's my best horse, and I don't ever push her too far. Laurena, make sure to be back at the village by sundown. Rest. Laurena lowered her head, and grazed a bit. Oinari: So that's it?! Your freeing her?! I stared at him confused. Karin: Do you really think I didn't train her to do as I say? Now, if you don't mind, I'd rather not spend another night here in the forest. I walked on, the shinobi following after the workers. A young girl on a old roan mare slid out of her saddle too, and let her horse walk along with her while she held the reigns. Karin: And your name is? “Sukiyaki. Sukiyaki Fujiyama. I am called 'Yuki' for a nickname.” Karin: What a beautiful name... Of course, my name has been shortened. Yuki: Will you tell me? Tell me your full name? I didn't answer, pretending that I didn't hear. The girl whispered, never talked loudly. Deeper woods were ahead, and Rei had still not returned. An hour or two later, he returned: No Oruki. Rei: I'm sorry Milady.. I could not catch him. Karin: Have a search party go out tomorrow morning. We will not abandon him for his actions. *Sigh* One day the boy must learn to listen.. Heart's Blood looked tired. Karin: Let him join his sister. Rei slid off the stallion's back, and a sigh of relief seemed to emanate from him. Rei: If I am correct, we have about a half of a mile before we reach the Village. Karin: I suppose we should be going then shouldn't we. Dashiki occupied Rei's mind with questions of his profession. Rei revealed little, but Dashiki never pushed for information if Rei said ' That..I keep to myself...' . By dark, the Village lights were seen, and we soon arrived. A banner was up, Rei must have warned them. Kusuri hugged me, obviously relieved that I was safe. She, Iyako, Sheryl, and the girls were there to greet us. Makoto ran up to me and wrapped her arms around my waist. Karin: What did Kusuri-sensi teach while I was gone? Makoto stepped back and bowed. Makoto: Medical Justu and Survival techniques Lady Omnikage. I was surprized that she had not addressed me as 'Auntie'. Nadare was sitting in a nearby tree, looking up into its branches. I turned and smiled. Karin: Whould you kind shinobi like to stay the night? We don't have much room, but I know we can get a roof over your heads. Serenity: That won't be- Oinari: We will stay if we are welcome. I nodded. Karin: Where and Hari and Kamareru? And my brother? Sheryl: They left early Mi'lady. They only said that they would be back by nightfall.... I frowned. Karin: Well...Let's get our guests to whatever room avalible. Nadare, Makoto. You will be surviving the elements until our guests leave. I will check on you every afternoon. Makoto: Yes Karin. *bows* Nadare bows along with her, unsure why she was acting so respectful. Makoto turned to the house, and Nadare followed after her. Serenity: *So..disciplined-they didn't even flinch!* Sheryl: I can take the girls, if that would be fine. Karin: Thank you Sheryl. Miss Serenity, Miss Yuki- Sheryl has a place for you. Sheryl smiled and led them off, but Oinari frowned. Oinari: The group will stay together. Serenity. Yuki- Karin: Pardon me for the interruption, Oinari, but do not hinder our hospitality! The women deserve a house to themselves! Oinari: We are a team Lady Omnikage. I do not let my team be separated! Karin: *I got up in his face* Then maybe then you are the one who is afraid. I walked off, herding Serenity and Yuki to Sheryl's house. Kusuri offered her home to the boys, and Oinari declined. Dashiki was afraid to dissapoint his teamleader- and followed him into the woods. Kusuri: He is so stubborn... Karin: I agree. *sigh* We are doing our best though. Patience and Intelligence is our greatest weapon of the moment Kusuri. She smiled at me. Kusuri: Something's wrong- I can tell. Are you and Rei-sama not happy together? Karin: Oh! No- Kusuri! Nothing's wrong...I'm just worried. My mind hasn't been on track lately...I haven't had much sleep... Kusuri: You really should rest then- I don't want you to be ill. Karin: That's impossible! We wolven's rarely get sick I'm sure- Kusuri: It might not be that your sick.*pauses in thought* Goodnight Lady Karin. She turned and walked away. I stood there pondering why she had said such a thing. Rei: Are you alright love? I turned to see Rei behind me, a ways off, but still visible in the dreary darkness- his sword was straped to his back. Karin: Love- Your sword- Rei walked toward me, holding out his hands. Rei: *takes my hands* I'm going to find Oruki. I looked down. Rei wrapped his arms around my waist. Rei: What's wrong? Karin: I-I don't know..I just haven't been feeling well lately... Rei: You need me. I'll stay. He walked with me back to our house, ushering me inside. Rei: I'll be in. Just have to tie up the horses. I nodded, shaking my shoes off my feet. I walked across the living room's hard wood floor, watching my foot prints appear and disappear on the shiny surface. I changed into the more comftorable PJ's and watered the little plant Zetsu had given me. Four inches tall, and a very deep green. It looked like a vine, twisting itself like a braid with too many strands of hair. I heard the door shut, and rapid foot steps. Rei: Karin! *whispers* Karin: I'm back here. I turned around- no Rei. Karin: Rei? *whispers* His figure appeared in the dark, and putting his hand on my arm. Rei: *still whispering* Someone's out there. I could feel it- too much chakra....In one place. One was different from the others. I couldn't see- but I certainly felt at least four..maybe five sources of chakra out there. Can you see? Your eyes are sharper than mine. Karin: ..... It's them. A one eyed, a red eyed, two regular sources with regular eyes. Pale white glare. I touched his shoulder gently. My mind must had startled him a bit..or what I could see without looking. Karin: Leave them. Just come to bed. They wouldn't ambush a village they do not know of. Rei relaxed, and put his sword under the bed..just in case... He drew me up into his arms and kissed me- he was worried..... zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz I woke and stared at the white ceiling. Rei was still in bed, his breathing slow and regular. It was fairly cold, but no goose-bumps showed on my pale skin. I arose and watered the small plant in the window sill, then rumaged through the chest-of-drawers for the regular peasant clothing. My feet tiptoed from our room, and into the bathroom a bit down the hall. I shut the door quietly- Rei was a light-sleeper. I pulled my shirt over my head, and combed out my hair. My pants were torn at the very bottom, but I wore them anyway. I was used to battle worn clothes. Once presentable, I woke Rei. Karin: Love- it is morning. You slept in. He sat straight up, staring at me. Rei: Did you go out side? I shook my head no, and walked towards the living room. I opened the two large front doors, making an effort to slide them. Rei held a shirt in his hand, still in his pants from last night. He wanted to be ready if something happened. Rei: How do you feel? *smiles* Karin:...Hmmm....dunno. With your hands....and...stuff. He walked over to me and held my chin in his rough hands. He kissed me. Rei: Did you feel that? How are you...health wise this morning- is what I meant. I know how to feel already. Karin: Mmm'hmmm. I'm fine. He let my chin go, and pulled his shirt over his head. Rei: going to see the kids today? Karin: Yea...I need to find out if Roji has returned with his team as well. Rei: Well...you get to have all the fun. I get to weed the garden like a good little boy. Karin: You will. Rei: I promise. It'll get done by.... He suddenly stopped talking. Out Loud. Rei: *They are still here. Waiting to approach. They're planning.* Karin: *Just stick with today's schedule, and keep calm and kind.* Something wrong? Do you need help? Rei: Oh..no! I'll be fine! Go on. I'll be done by dinner. Get something for breakfast at Sheryl's- we need to borrow some food from her anyways. I stood on my tiptoes to kiss him goodbye. Karin: Have fun with those weeds. He laughed as I ran out the door, twirling a bit as I went. It was getting warmer today. I jogged up Sheryl's front steps, and knocked on the door. Yuki answered, rubbing her eyes, still in her pajamas. Yuki: Good..*yawn* morning! Miss Karin. Karin: Did you sleep well? Yuki looked up at me and was pleased by my clothing- symbolizing I wasn't really rich after all. Yuki: Mm'Hmm. Sheryl- kun has a nice house. *smiles* Wanna come in? They just made me answer the door because I was the last one up. Karin: Of course! And you can sleep as long as you want Miss Yuki. They're just teasing. Yuki slid the door open wider- it was easier sliding than the older doors in my house. Karin: Now Sheryl- What are you doing making our guest answer the door asleep! She practicly fell into my arms the poor thing! *I winked at her, and she gigled* I heard a clang! then a laugh. Sheryl: Sorry Karin-sama!! Slipped! Serenity had gotten Sheryl to laugh...for the first time that I've ever heard. Serenity: You alright Sheryl-san? *still laughing a bit* I wispered for Yuki to head back to bed while she could, and I would save her some breakfast. She scurried off down the hall. I walked down the same hall, looking through the first door (kitchen). Karin: Alright! Can I cook? Serenity looked at me horrified, then her face relaxed into a smile. Sheryl smiled and motioned me over. Sheryl: Uh- you can....flip these. *hands me a spatula* Karin: How come you got a spatula I didn't!?!? Sheryl: I have friends that can't cook. So, HE gave me HIS. Karin: I was gunna say...*mummbles* Anyway...How was your night Miss Serenity? Serenity: Oh, It was very nice. I appreciate everything your clan has been able to accomplish without skilled craftsmen. *smile* Karin: You would be surprised! Our men do most of the girlie work around here. My husband gardens. Serenity held a hand to her mouth to keep from laughing. Karin: Would you like to accompany me to check on the students? Serenity looked surprised. Serenity: Um- sure! I just wouldn't want to be a burden. Karin: Believe me Miss Serenity- you are a blessing, not a burden. We love company. I smiled, trying to ease the tension a bit. I flipped a pancake in the air, and caught it on a plate. Karin: How many would you like Miss Serenity? Serenity: Oh, no thank you. I can eat on my way home. I was a bit taken back. Karin: Your going home today? AWWWW! I wanted you to stay for a little longer! Serenity radiated surprise once again. Serenity: I'm-sorry? Our Village needs us... Karin: At least try some of my pancakes. PLWWEEEAAASSEE??? Serenity: Alright. But only one. I could tell the girl hadn't eaten in a while. She was skinny, and a bit pale. I handed her a plate and a fork, and turned back to gather the rest on another plate. Serenity: You wouldn't mind giving me another would you? I smiled and took her plate. Karin: I told you they were good. ^ ^ Serenity: Ya know- I don't get why Oinari was so freaked about you people. You're their leader, and I just want to call you mom! Karin: Well, judgement happens dear. Here ya go. I handed her back the plate, with two more pancakes on it. Serenity: Thank you so much..My team and I haven't eaten. We had given it to the workers. Karin: Well, that was very considerate of you.... Serenity: I am worried about that dog though...And Dashiki. I didn't even think he was a afraid. He just took the bite without complaining. I'm happy for him, but I hope he doesn't become anything like Oinari. She waved her fork in the air as she talked. Serenity: He's always thinking that people are out to get us...when we couldn't have met better people. By the way, where you guys live before this? Karin: We all came from different villages. I don't know about the others, but I was from the Village hidden in the Rain. Sheryl lifted her head from her work and stared. Her eyes looked scared. Serenity: Wow! So you specialize in water jutsu then? Karin: Sort of. I'm more of a healer than a warrior. The room went silent. Serenity pushed back her chair, and placed her plate in the sink. Serenity: I'll go get Yuki-san up, then I'll be ready to go. Karin: Sure! I'll be waiting! I tossed what ever I had used for handling the pancakes in the sink as well, and put the pancakes themselves in the freezer for later. Yuki: AAA! SERENITY-SAN!!!!!! THAT'S COLD!!!!! Laughing followed at I realized what she had done. Cold Water. She ran back into the dining room laughing. Serenity: That never gets old. Quick, before she starts to chase me. We started for the door as we heard an aggravated scream from down the hall. I shut the door behind us, getting a glimpse of Sheryl grabbing some towels and running down the hallway. Karin: Well. Are you ready for a bit of hiking? Serenity looked pleased. Serenity: Let's. I took off, sending Serenity's hair flying backwards. Karin: At least try to keep up Serenity-san!! She was trailing behind me, about twenty feet. I ran towards the forest, and right up a tree, starting to jump branches. Serenity jumped from the ground, already showing signs of exhaustion. Karin: Should I slow down? My breathing was completely normal as I spoke. Serenity shook her head no and tried to gain a bit more speed to catch up. Minutes passed quickly. Karin: Can you imagine that we've already gone three miles? Serenity looked surprised, and got her footing wrong on the next branch. She tripped forward, and grabbed hold of the branch in front of her, contorting her body to swing herself forward beside me. But not for long. Karin: Impressive. One more mile. She stopped, leaning against one of the tree's trunks, staring at the ground beneath her. I stopped, and turned around. Karin: Are you dizzy? You are. I can see it in your eyes. I grabbed hold of one of her hands, and pulled her down to sit on the branch. Serenity: I just lost my vision all of a sudden. Karin: You were about to pass out. I grabbed a small bottle from one of my pockets, and gave it to her. Karin: Take a swig. She did, and handed the bottle back to me coughing. Serenity: What is THAT!? Karin: Sake. Serenity: o.o Urg! You're horrible! Giving an miner a drink like that! Karin: But you feel better now don't you. Serenity looked up. Serenity: Yeah...Thanks..I guess. Karin: Shh. It's a little secrect. If my father knew he would have a fit. Serenity's eyes widened. Serenity: How old are you?! Karin: Oh! I'm not a miner or anything. I'm twenty-six. Serenity sighed relief. Karin: He just doesn't like me drinking. I turned and sat down beside her. Serenity: Does your father live here...with you? She was staring at the ground. I could tell Fathers were a touchy subject with her. Karin: No. And- he wasn't really my dad. My real father died in a war...he just raised me to be a good ninja.. Serenity: Wasn't? Is he...? Karin: Oh no! He's not. He lives in Kahona. I never liked it there as I grew up, and so I traveled and met my husband Rei. I guess losing one dad and gaining another is better than not having one at all. Serenity was still staring down. Karin: Now then- Their camp is not far. Ready? *I'll go slower this time..just in case* We both stood, and jumped forward, at an agonizingly slower pace for me. A creek shown below, and I stopped, jumping down with a kuni ready. Karin: Come out! I can see you clearly Makoto. Nadare! I turned and flung a kuni at a nearby tree,an 'Eeep!' followed, and a broken invisiblity jutsu. Nadare sheild away from the kuni buried in the tree beside her. Karin: If you would have controled your fear, you could have run Nadare. Makoto came out from behind another tree, running towards me with another kuni. As she reached to stab me with it, I reached backward and caught her arm. A slight snap was then heard, and Makoto cried out in pain. Makoto: Mercy! Mercy Karin-sama! Serenity: What were you doing?! You just broke your student's wrist!!! *poof* Karin: Wrong. The subtitution Makoto was just a puddle of water now...and the real Makoto was still out there. Karin: Makoto. Unarm yourself. I am only here to check up on you. Makoto walked out of the creek, soildifying into her form. She was a bit wind-burned. Karin: You've been training. Makoto: Why is our visitor here, Karin-sama? Is she another test? Karin: No Makoto. She is leaving today. Just saying goodbyes. Serenity: Yep. It was nice meeting you both. Don't give up- Makoto: No matter what. Karin: My Makoto can read minds. Makoto: I am sorry for the intrusion. I will withdraw. Serenity felt a slight pressure in her head leave. Nadare walked up to shake her hand. Nadare: It was a...challange to have you here. Thanks. Serenity: Umm..Sure. Your welcome.. Makoto: Are we to accompany you back to our home, Karin-sama? Serenity seemed afraid of her now. Karin: No. We will hope for another day for our guests. Nadare: Another day it shall be then. They both went back into invisiblity. Karin: Would you like a ride home? I mean, to our village. Serenity: Umm....how? I retreived a small wooden instrament out of my other pocket, placed my pointer finger on two keys. Karin: Cover your ears. Serenity obeyed. I blew into the instrament, and a shrill note peirced the silence of the forest. Karin: Now we wait. Serenity unpluged her ears, though trying to regain use of sound. The ground shook a bit, and hoof beats we starting to be heard. Laurena jumped the stream, and landed between Serenity and I. Heart's Blood tred through the water playfully, and over to Serenity. Serenity: Amazing... Heart's Blood huffed pride. Karin: *Your brother...?* Laurena shook her head side-to-side, pretending to shake a fly from her mane. I slung up onto Laurena's back with ease, and gave Serenity a hand onto Heart's Blood's. Serenity: Thanks. Karin: Wanna race? I smiled at her innocently. Serenity: Oh yeah. Karin: Bring it. Laurena sped forward, smirking at her brother. I stayed in front for a while, leaning into Laurena's movements with ease. Heart's Blood soon caught up to match his sister's stride, tossing his head, and bitting at her mane. I put my hands on Laurena's sides, and let my chakra flow throw her, letting her feet move faster than was thought possible, faster than when we were coming back to the village. Laurena gave out a joyous whinny, and accepted the chakra, adding it to what she already had. Her head dipped down, and upward in swift, even motions, leaving her bother and Serenity behind her. Serenity leaned lower on Heart's Blood's back, and let him go his own ways. She was more focused on speed than where she was. She leaned as he leaned, and focused ont he trees that passed her by. Karin: *Just a mile more.* I withdrew my chakra, and let her run on what she had left. It wasn't far now. We burst into the meadow of the village, slowing our horses. Serenity caught up a minute later. Karin: I think...I won. ^ ^ Serenity: You cheated! Karin: I did not! Serenity: Did too! I dismounted Laurena as Serenity slid off Heart's Blood's. Oinari and Dashiki walked up, packed and ready to leave. Oinari: Srenity. Pack your things. We're leaving now. Karin: So quickly? I asked, a frown on my face. Oinari: Yes. We have other missions...Karin-sama. Serenity ran off to Sheryl's house for her stuff, and possibly say goodbye to Yuki. She came back with her pack. I gave her hug. Karin: I encourage you to come back anytime you want dear. We'll always have a place for you. Serenity smiled and whispered a 'Thank you for everything.' in my ear. She waved as they walked into the shade of the forest. I waved until they were out of sight. I turned and walked toward home, relieves that they were finally away. As I started to climb the step to the door I felt a strange pressure in my chest. It knocked me off balance, sending me toward the ground. Karin: "Rei!* My eyes met the ground, and darkess met my eyes. Kusuri: - I'm telling you Rei, that's what's 'wrong' with her. There is no avoiding it now. Rei: ....Thank you for the diagnosis. His voice seemed quiet, but loud. And it was far away. Silence resumed. Time passed. Rei: Love. Wake up. You need to eat. I blinked, putting an arm over my eyes. Rei: There's no light in here. I felt his hand tighten on mine, and his arm behind my back. I put my arm down, opening my eyes to see his face above me. I was sitting up, in his arms. I was covered in at least four blankets. Karin: I'm sick. Rei: No, your not. I turned my face into his warm chest. Rei: No- not sick..... Your pregnant. I jumped at his words. Karin: What?..! Rei: Do I have to give you the 'birds and the bees' story? He said cutely, trying not to be killed by me. Karin: No. He didn't say anything for a while. Rei: Kusuri said that you would have to be human until this was over. And that you have to stop drinking for the baby. And that we can't avoid it. Karin: You might wish you were dead after all of this your putting me through. Rei: Would it help if I said I loved you, and that I'd be there with you forever? Karin: No. I have a headache.. stop talking and don't let me go. He smiled, his teeth gleeming. I felt horrible. I felt dizzy. And I was nauseous, and I had a feaking headache. I was exhausted. And Rei let me fall back asleep against him, promising me a few more hours till he would make me get up. Oh boy...girl? Rei's fingers smoothed out my hair, making me awake. Rei: Good Evening Love. He smiled, and kissed me on my forehead. Rei: Are you hungry? I shook my head 'no'. He leaned over me, pulling a blanket back onto my shoulder. I moved away from him, pushing him away. I swung my feet out of the bed, and stood, starting to walk. Rei: Where are you going? I turned and stared at him. Karin: The bathroom. I think I'm gonna be sick. I turned quickly back around, and walked to the bathroom, shutting the door. I sat against the wall by the shower, trying desparatly not to lose what food I still had left in my stomach. Karin: Rei...! He opened the door slightly, then came in seeing that I was on the floor. Rei: Feel sick? I nodded a yes quickly. Karin: urgh.. He sat down beside me as I leaned over the toilet, giving up. Rei grabbed a wash cloth from under the sink, and wet it. Rei: Come 'ere. Karin: Unless you want to be covered in vomit, I suggest not. I shook as I sat back on my knees, trying to breathe. Rei wipped my face with the cloth, and rinsed it out. He left it by the sink for when it continued. Rei: What can I do to help you feel better love? He rubbed my back a little, trying to settle me down. Karin: Go get..Kusuri. I-I'll be okay.. Rei stood and left, leaving the door open for some fresh air. I flushed the toilet to get rid of the smell that was already in here. The fresh air didn't help much. Rei ran down the stairs, his hands forming quick signs. Rei: Teleportation Jutsu! He knocked hardly on their door. Kamareru answered the knock. Rei: Where's your wife? I need her help. Kamareru: Inside. I'll get her. He ran back through their house, calling for Kusuri. Rei heard voices in the background, and heard more footsteps. Kusuri: Hold on Rei! She called from the back of the house. Kusuri hurridly shoved medicine into her medic bag, walking to the door as she did. She closed the flap, and closed the door behind her. Rei: Come on. Kusuri put a hand on Rei's shoulder. Rei: Teleportation jutsu! He pulled her up the stairs, and through the door. Kusuri: Where is she? Rei: Bathroom. Second door on your left. Kusuri motioned from him to stay as she ran down the hall. I lay on the cold bathroom floor, my bad arm over my eyes. I had lost my shift. There was nothing I could do. When ever wolvens got sick- they got ill enough to never have to be again for a long time. Kusuri pulled herself around the door. Kusuri: Haikri? She got down on her knees as I sat up against the wall. Haikri: Hi.. Kusuri: How many times did you vomit while Rei was gone. I held up two fingers. She started going through her bag. Haikri: Got anything good in there..? Kusuri: Yep. Tell me Haikri-sama. On a scale of one to ten- Haikri: TEN. Kusuri: Alright. Do you think you can swallow and keep some pills down for me? Haikri: I'll make myself if I have to. She handed me two normal sized, yellow pills. I tossed them into my mouth. Kusuri: What you have is 'morning sickness'. Haikri: It's not morning. *swallow* I coughed, already feeling that they would be paying me another visit. I pushed my hand down forcefully, and they went down. Kusuri: Some have it when the just wake up. Some have it only in the mornings. Then there is the rare case of being ill all day. Your's is only when you wake. Those pills can let you get by that so you can feel like eating. Haikri: Tsunade never taught me about this. Kusuri: Tsunade never experienced it hon. I looked at her, still feeling queezy. She placed the bottle of pills in my hand. Kusuri: This will affect the baby if you take too many. Take only one before bed. You might not feel well in the beggining, but it'll clear up. Haikri: Are the children back? Kusuri: Kamareru left when I did to go get them. I regained my shift after a bit of consentration. Karin: .....Where is my brother? I stared up at the ceiling, afraid for him. I needed him with me. Here. Kusuri: He is looking for Oruki- that is why Kamareru is back. Karin: I sware if he doesn't get his- Kusuri: He said that they would be back sometime this night. Remember- one before bed. You should be good for today though. Karin: Thanks Kusuri-san. Kusuri got up, and left with her bag. As soon as she left, Rei was at the door, a worried look on his face. Karin: I'm fine. Rei: What did she give you? I held up the bottle. Karin: Heaven in pill-form. He came over, and leaned over. Rei: Wrap your arms around my neck. Karin: Um'kay.... As I did, I leaned up and kissed him. He pulled upwards, holding onto my hips. I stood up, leaning on him a bit more than I thought I needed to. I pulled my head back, looking into his green eyes. Rei: I love you. Karin: Thank you. I sighed the words. I let my arms drop as he let go. I still leaned against him as I put my head against his chest. Rei: Hungry now? I looked up at him. Karin: Yes love. More than you know. He grabbed my hand, and led me into the kitchen. He opened a cabinet full of soups. Rei: Pick one. Karin: Jeeze Rei.. That's a whole lota soup...Umm...This one. I pulled out a good sized can of "Hearty" soup. Rei: I like that one too. He took it from me, grabbing a pot from another cabinet. I knew Rei was touchy about me watching him cook, so I left, walking into the livingroom. The door was still open, so I sat in my usual spot- where Rei and I talked when darkness fell. The air was the crisp usual, and I looked around at the beauty given to me. The trees swayed in the soft breeze, the leaves flickering their silvery sides. Yet my constant worry of Tsunade shattered my consentration. I looked around, trying to see if they were still watching us. They were. The group had a camp set up a bit away from us. They sat around the dim fire. I closed my eyes as I tried to listen to the words I could see on their lips. Naruto: How do we even KNOW this is Haikri? I mean come on! They just had a three-cell group walk out of there! Kakashi: Naruto- stop whining. We will go through with this mission, whether she is...or not. *sigh* Tsunade: We'll watch for a bit longer. Everything seems normal now. Shikamaru: I'm sure at least one of them knows we are here Lady Hokage. Our hiding out here is unnerving. He shifted on the ground, folding his legs. Naruto: All you wanna know, Shikamaru, is if this IS the real Haikri! Naruto teased, laughing under his breath. Shikamaru: Naruto! You know I don't care any more! She was a traitor to our village and is nothing but a traitor to me! Do you understand??!? Do you finally get it you- Tsunade: THAT
