Mended Heart
By Dominick Cortes
It never beats the same
It never lets blood flow again
It never breaths a fresh air
It cracks and breaks
Slowly, does it fade away
Swaying from its former light
Falls broken in a thousand pieces
Has lost its rhythm and beat.
It breaks and crumples inside.
And all alone, it creeps from behind
And swarms it all in darkness
For it becomes shallow and fake
It mends a lie
A smile that fools all
Lies are better lived than reality,
Don't we all love to fade towards a lie?
Even under the mask, does it cry
Wailing red tears that fall towards utter woe
The lie never fixes anything
In the end, it just becomes a dark pitted mess.
