Chapter 15

I ran as fast as I could which sent me soaring across the landscape. I stopped when I was a figure in my path. I skidded to a stop and looked up.

It was Darren. He had a jacket on and had a solem look on his face. We stopped staring at each other. After a minute I sank to my knees and punched the ground.

"Are you stasfied?" Darren asked.

"No I'm not!" I yelled out. I hated this. I hated everything about my sitaution! Why did they betray me? Why were we created? Why was I the only one left? Why? why? why? why?! why! why! why!! why!!! why!!!

I felt the rain starting to fall around me falling harder and harder. The image of myself flashed into my head. Red eyes, wild white hair, teeth and nails shaper and longer. Worst of all the total lack of care or any emotion other then the joy of killing. It scared and sickened me.

But there was no turning back now. I got to my feet looking at the sky. The blood on my body had been washed off by the rain. "What will you do now?" Darren asked.

"I don't know" I responded.

"Well whatever you do we'll help you" I turned around and saw two people arriving.

"Rogue! Yumi!" I shouted seeing my friends. I ran to them then stopped. Part of me was wary now. "How do I know you're on my side?"

"Because I brought them here" Darren said. "The three of us are your new coven, Phase. Now you lead"

"I'm not sure if I'm ready to lead again." I smiled at them. "But I guess I'll try again" As I said that the rain stopped and the clouds parted revealing the sun again. How's that for a spritual moment.

We left Colordo that night and went to Nebraska. Yumi was with us to stay this time. Her brother had moved and left to learn abroad. So now she was free to help me out.

Rogue was a different story. After they had caught me he left and contacted Darren. That's how I got out. Seems like I owed him life. Again. But still part of me didn't trust him. Guess it came with the new body.

That's right my body had changed completly and now that my cells were fully energized. I could now see in the dark, hear and smell things miles away if I concentrated, and break rocks with my hands. It was crazy awesome!

We were now waiting as Darren put it. We were waiting for Albasta corp. to find us this time. It'd be a heckuva lot easier that way. But now me and Yumi were sitting under a tree. It was a path that we'd found during our trip. The moon was bright tho it was only three quaters full.

We were laying under a tree staring at the sky. "Thanks Yumi" I said softly my hands on my chest.

"For what?" she asked. She rolled over facing me.

"For being here" I said. "Most of my friends betrayed me and left me for dead. So thanks"

"That's what friends are for Phase-kun" Yumi said smiling holding her hand to the air. I nodded holding my hand up too. Hearing her say that made me realize how much I needed Yumi in my life.

The four of us sat around the remains of our campfire. It was morning now. Darren was working with his PDA which being the super genius he is altered it into a mini computer.

Yep that's what Darren did. He took request from people who needed tech made. Depending on how much someone payed him equaled the quality of the tech. I.e. the com links he made us I payed him a lot therefore they were state of the art. Same for the research.

He suddenly looked up expression serious. "They're coming" Two words that ment so much. I nodded standing up along with Rogue and Yumi.

I looked over across the field and saw five shapes walk toward us. Echo and Shade were expresionless but Flare and Ray couldn't hide their sad looks. Part of me was sad I had to fight them too.

The fifth one was an older gent. About thirty I'd say. He had on a long black leatherish jacket. His hair was smoothed back with a monocle in his left eye. He had a cane in his hand as he walked over smug. Behind them trailed fourty armed guards.

"Well Phase it seems you have reached the end of your rope." he said to me.

"Nah. i just got tired of running" I said back an edge of steel in my voice.

"I hope you have realized it is futile to keep on running. We will capture you."

"One question" I said raising a hand. "Why do you want me so bad?"

"Because Phase you are our greastest succes. You are the closest thing to a perfect weapon we've created."

"And what makes you think I'll do this willingly?" I said appalled by the fact that they even thought I'd help them.

"I would like for you to come peacefully, or we'll have to use force" he said snapping his fingers. The guards raised their guns while, Echo and co tensed to fight. Darren and Rogue tensed behind me while Yumi crouched next to me.

"Fine I see how it is" I said holding up my hand. I made a thumbs up at him. Yumi looked confused but Darren just grinned. Rogue laughed shaking his head. Well I think he was. His bandana blocked his mouth up to his nose.

"Ah I'm glad you see it my way Phase" the director said smiling. I smiled back quickly turning my thumb around.

"Like hell I'm helping you! Let's rock!" I yelled. I ran forward Yumi, Rogue, and Darren right behind me.

The directer looked surprised and turned to Echo and friends and ordered them to attack. Boy was he surprised. Echo and the rest had double crossed them and were with me from the start. I hit my fastest blinding speed stopping directly behind Echo. Shade joined me a second later.

"Excellent timing guys" I said. I jumped over her landing a punch on a guard sending him crashing to the ground.

"Yeah well it was your plan Phase" Shade said grinning at me. Echo brought her head back and shouted blowing away two guards.

"Sorry bout that Phase" Echo said apolegleticly. She was talking about when I got captured. It did hurt but I got over it.

"No problem" I said. I kicked a guard down then jumped over them landing by the director. "Game over a*****e" I said.

"My my. Well played Phase. Well played. I did not expect that. Too bad I will not be around to see how it will turn out" the moment he said that his image faded away revealing a freaking saucer. Are you kidding me! I mean come on! He pulled a freaking hologram on me! Who does that?!

I growled and punched the saucer destorying it. I turned around and saw the fight end. Most of the guards that had came with them had either been knocked out or surrendered. Only a few bullets had been shot off because we'd been in close quaters and they were worried about friendly fire.

I nodded to Echo and Darren. The plan wouldn't have worked without them both. Not a bad plan if I do say so myself.

"Phase look out!" Flare shouted

I turned around just in time to see a guard stand, take aim, and shoot his gun at me. The world seemed to move in slow motion as the bullet flew at me.The gunshot made me freeze in place. Me! It was crazy that I was freezing up. Suddenly I felt myself get pushed away.

I fell to the ground and looked at Yumi. "Yumi!" I rushed to her side before she even hit the ground. She didn't cry out but her pain was clear. Blood was seeping out slowly from the wound. I sniffed at the wound then frowned. The bullet had lodged in collar bone.

"Yumi this'll hurt so please bear with me" I whispered to her ear. I brought my arm back and plunged two fingers into the wound. Her eyes shot open and she pushed her head against my body biting into my shirt. I yanked my are back pulling out the bullet.

I felt her body tense and she looked up at me with painful eyes. "I'm sorry Yumi. Please rest for now" I whispered. She nodded to me as her eyes drifted close. I ripped a strip of cloth off my shirt and tied it around the wound stopping the bleeding.

I took the bullet that was in my hand and flung it back at the guard who shot it. Got him right betwean the eyes. "Come on let's go!" I shouted to everyone else
