Chapter 5, a little eavesdropping

Earlier that day, Before Chris became a hero, events were about to take place with two others. Rebecca was walking down the sunny sidewalk towards Chris' house, when she noticed Marcus, just laying on the grass. She knew it was Marcus because of the raggy clothing he was wearing. Rebecca ran up to the bottom of the hill he was on and called, "Marcus!" But there was no reply. she walked to the side and saw his head bobbing. He was obviously lost in his loud music. Rebecca grinned evily. "perfect." She snuck around Marcus and walked slowly from the back. She suddenly popped her head right in front of Marcus' and shook him. "HOLY-" was all Marcus said before giving Rebecca an irritated look. "what the hell?" Marcus took the headphones away from his ears, expecting a good excuse.

"Oh, i just say you and thought it was a good idea. And it was!!" Rebecca was laughing at Marcus. "Jeez, your face was PRICELESS!!" Marcus shook his head. "you girls are UNbelievable. sometimes i wonder why i'm interested in them." Rebecca looked up quickly at Marcus. "you mean you're thinking of turning gay?! AWESOME! when you get a boyfriend, you HAVE to let me meet him!" Marcus' eyes widened. "you know what Becca, just shut up, alright?" He said, obviously flustered.

"ok, ok. well, since we're already together, want to hang out?" Rebecca asked. She suddenly heard a loud, spine tingling scream. "what was that?? come on Fruity, we're going to check it out." Rebecca grabbed Marcus' hand and nearly dragged him when she began running. "look! just because i wear bright colored clothing doesn't mean i'm-" Marcus ranted, but he stopped knowing it was hopeless. They suddenly stopped and Rebecca let go of Marcus' hand. She walked over to a large rock and crouched there, looking at chris and Jack. "i erm... made a promise to myself... that, whoever came for me... i would..... "go" with them..." Rebecca heard. Her eyes widened.

"holy hell, Marcus! get down and listen to this!" Rebecca said quietly. Marcus walked up and sat next to her. "i- um... give me three days... i need to think things through. For now, let's return home. I bet your mom is looking for you." Rebecca and Marcus' eyes widened. "you were so excited thinking i was going gay... now you get your exciting dream, only with people you already know." Marcus whispered. Rebecca was surprised. "three days, and we'll find out. ten bucks he says no." Rebecca said. She was seriously hoping Chris would say no. She wanted to ask him herself as well. Now it was too late. She would have to wait. "nope. He'll say yes. i've noticed how they acted around eachother yesterday. something about how they acted just seemed... wrong, for someone you just met. twenty bucks he says yes." Marcus whispered. "your on." Rebecca was watching them run off home. She watched, with envy how well they looked together, only hoping that she was where Jack was.
