Amanda lay on Nikole’s bed, her mind wandering. Her breathing was the only sound that could’ve been heard in the dark, cold room. As she shivered, Amanda rose off the bed and swung her feet off the side. With a sigh, she got up and walked out of the room, silently closing the door shut, without a look back. Making her way to the table with Nikole’s note, Amanda searched for her phone in her coat pocket, which was located on a seat near the table. Flipping it open, she punched in Nikole’s number and waited for an answer.
‘Sorry, can’t make it to the phone, call back later if needed.’
Amanda sighed. She then punched in the P.D.’s number, this time getting a pick up.
“Seattle P.D., how may I help you?” A voice asked.
“Hi, um, I’m trying to contact Bri- I mean Nikole Stopka, but she’s not picking up, I was wondering if it was alright if I came in.” There was a small snicker on the other end.
“Of course you can, come to the front desk when you get here and we’ll retrieve Nikole for you.”
“Thank you.” With that, Amanda shut the phone, snatched her coat and ran out the front door.
“Ah, Captain Marose, you don’t happen to know where Nikole is do you?” The woman at the front desk asked, as the burly man passed by, he turned his head toward the noise.
“Uh, yes, but she’s in interrogation right now.”
“Oh, well, this woman was looking for her.” His attention then moved to Amanda, who sat in a chair looking straight at the Captain. He sighed.
“C’mere, you can see her, but only after she’s done.” Amanda got up and followed the Captain down the long maze of hallways until they reached a half lit room, with only a large piece of glass on one side of the wall. Captain Marose pointed toward the glass and Amanda’s eyes followed his finger. That’s when her eyes landed on Nikole’s back, which was leaning against the window.
Marose left the room hastily, and went into the room Nikole was in. His footsteps pounded and echoed throughout the whole building.
“God damnit Nikole, you know better than this!” His voice was rough with anger. Nikole lifted her head and met his eyes.
“Know better? If anyone of you people knew better, you’d know what to do, but you don’t, so I had to prove that the answer was right there, in front of your eyes.” Her voice was calm. Marose slammed his fist onto the bloodied table.
“That doesn’t mean you beat the man half to death!” Nikole just shrugged.
“Another citation, if you keep this s**t up, you’re out of here, got that?” With that, Marose left the room and vanished within the hallway.
Now
Nikole made her way to the break room, throwing herself onto the couch that was located inside. She shut her eyes, and seemed to drift off into a quick slumber. Amanda walked in and saw Nikole lying down. She sat beside her and brushed a long strand of hair out of Nikole’s face.
“I’m sorry you had to see that.” Amanda jumped up in surprise when she heard the voice. Nikole opened her eyes and stared into deep emerald one’s.
“Jesus, you knew I was in there?” Nikole nodded.
“I could smell you.”
“Well, that doesn’t sound weird at all.” The brunette smirked.
“I’m so sorry…”
“Look, Brittany, you already apolo-“
“…for leaving you.” Amanda’s eyes shot open.
“Oh…” the red head stated.
“I just…got scared. I loved you, so much but, I was so afraid of losing you that, I had to leave before that moment came, so the pain wouldn’t be as bad.” Tears threatened to fall form her eyes. Amanda stood up and gathered Nikole in here arms.
“Well, please don’t leave me now that you’re in my arms again, please don’t.”
“I promise not too.” Amanda smiled.
“I Love You.”
“I Love You Too Mon Ange.”
And it's been awhile
Since I could look at myself straight
And it's been awhile since I said I'm sorry
And it's been awhile since I've seen the way the candles light your face
And it's been awhile but I can still remember just the way you taste
And everything I can't remember
As ******** up as it all may seem to be
I know it's me
I cannot blame this on my father
He did the best he could for me
And it's been awhile
Since I could hold my head up high
And it's been awhile since I said I'm sorry
