What? HE JUST READ THAT? JUST BARELY??!!!
Well, it finished while I was on my mission, so I was just barely able to finish it, finally. ^_^ Overall impression? How should I put it? Hmmm....
Epic.
Alchemy is based on 'equivalent exchange.' That is to say, One must always sacrifice something of equal value to receive that in return. Alchemists use mysterious energies to rearrange base elements into different forms, a useful skill to say the least.
Edward and Alphonse, brothers, lost their original bodies, or part thereof, in the case of Ed, in performing the taboo Human Transmutation, in an attempt to bring their mother back to life. Weighed by their sins, they quest for a way to restore their original bodies, and all roads seem to point to one solution: the fable Philosipher's stone. But, they soon find out, such a road never was the easy one.
It was full of enough twists and turns to keep you riveted, but not so random as to make you say: "wtf? He totally pulled that one out his..." It was, overall, one of the best series I've ever read, and anyone who's read it will readily agree.
THIS IS A MUST READ!!! If you haven't read it, open it and read it NOW!!!
Parental Disclaimer: Many intense fight scenes. Some language. Spoiler: The later discover that the main ingredient for the Philosopher's stone is live human beings.
The language and fights and blood get worse towards the end. But, I don't think it was particularly overdone, like it is in some manga.
