I won't bother saying 'in my opinion' unless I do out of habit, because OBVIOUSLY this is my opinion. It's my freaking review, ain't it?
Oryx and Crake by Margaret Atwood
Rating: 9/10
Synopsis: Humanity here equals Snowman, and in Snowman's recollections Atwood re-creates a time much like our own, when a boy named Jimmy loved an elusive, damaged girl called Oryx and a sardonic genius called Crake. But now Snowman is alone, and as we learn why we also learn about a world that could become ours one day. (from BordersStores.com)
Prequels: None that I know of
Sequels: None that I know of.
Review: Ah, Oryx and Crake. What is there to say about this series. So much, yet so little. I'm afraid I might spoil something...
Anyway, Oryx and Crake takes its title from two of the most important characters in the story. Crake, Jimmy/Snowman's one and only friend who holds the power of the world in his hands and Oryx, the girl they both fell for. (Them both falling for Oryx is important to the characters reactions, but it isn't heavily talked about in the story, which is a good thing.)
The story was written well, between grammar and writing technique, which was very pleasant after reading many a story where getting the events out was more important than the presentation.
For books such as Oryx and Crake it's probably best for the review not to be too wordy, so as not to spoil anything. Thus, I shall leave you with the synopsis and my rating (and obviously what is written above).

My journal is now for books I've read and book reviews (and maybe other reviews too). And, recently it has come to be used for updates on my upcoming charity. =)
