Contemplating The Moon
The moon glows with a mysterious beauty
Its corona a guiding light in the darkness
But...
They say the truth is that
The Moon's light is but reflection of the sun's
Its true radiance but a borrowed gift
That the Moon itself is so pale and listless
That it is so cold
That it is so grimn
And yet
The Moon can move the tides
The Moon can move emotions
And it is still a guiding light in the darkness
So then
What is the Moon to its people in truth?
What is the Moon to the shining sun?
What is the Moon to the waters it moves?
It is once said that the Sun and Moon were equal forces
But that is not so
The Sun itself is true radiance
While the Moon is pale
But the Sun itself is far away
And the Moon itself is so close
And the Moon itself provides the light of night
While the Sun must go away
In truth
The Sun and Moon are partners
When they are apart, they can make light
When they are together, they bring darkness
But regardless of where they are
Regardless of what they do
They are both beautiful.
