Mediocrity At It's Finest
These are just random snippets from my mind... enjoy.
NetStar Chronology - Chapter 7
After about an hour of searching, Yellow found herself standing near the Great Valley, which is west of Toria. It was a huge crater in the ground, a smaller version of the Grand Canyon, if you will. But, lining some of the rock layers was an enchated material known as Orichalcon. It appeared to be made of gold and bronze, but anyone who knew anything about magical materials would laugh at that assumption. Her attention was diverted momentarily, just because she had not seen anything so beautiful. She looked around some more, and saw Red looking down into the crater. In a contempative state, Red had a fist to her hip as she gazed intently at the bottom.

"Terra!" Yellow ran over to her.

"Oh, hey Charlotte." Red gave a weak smile.

"Are you okay?"

"I'm fine, really."

"You don't seem okay. You sorta left us in a hurry."

"Hm." Red looked away. "I just... wish that I was appreciated more."

"Look, don't pay attention to what Yamato says. Sometimes he can be really inhospitable, but that's just how some people are. You could stand to be a little nicer to him, though."

"Meh." Red frowned. "I tried that. He hates me, and I know it. Ever since I first met him, he's seen me as an annoyance."

"Why do you annoy him?"

"Well, when he was in The Empire I would test him." She shrugged. "Yanno, see if he was as reliable as they said he was. I would only bother him whenever he was on a mission."

"So, are you even surprised that he's not kind to you?"

"No. But I had sort of a problem. No matter how hard I tried not to, I'd always annoy him. Even if he was on break, I would always say something that would drive him up the wall."

"You like him a lot, don't you?"

"Yeah." Red nodded. "But for a long time, he thought that I was a boy. I guess he found it odd that a boy kept on flirting with him. By the time he realized that I'm a girl, his sister had been eliminated, and he was giving the cold shoulder to everyone. You're probably the best thing that's happened to him since he left."

"But, I haven't done much."

"He seems pretty friendly towards you, to me." Red shrugged once more. "But hey, I've been wrong before."

"Is there any Captain in The Empire that you don't like?"

"I can't stand Black. It's not a hatred, he just creeps me out. But, I guess I can say I give Vincent the most battle attention. I like to rough him up a little, to see if he's been slacking off."

"No offense, Terra... but you do act really boyish."

"Do I?" She blinked. "I guess it can't be helped. I like fighting, what can I say?"

There was a pause.

"I suppose we should be heading back." Red sighed. "The boys will probably be worried."

"Yeah." Yellow nodded.

"Oh, and Charlotte? Thanks for caring."

Red gave Yellow a quick hug, then started walking off. Yellow just smiled, and caught up with her.

The two of them returned home to find Blue sleeping on the couch, and Green sleeping in his room.

"I thought he had a room." Red asked.

"He does." Yellow whispered, still looking at Blue. "But, that battle with James must have taken a toll on him."

"Why're you staring at him?"

"I dunno. He just looks cute when he's asleep, I guess."

"Yeah." Red nodded.

There was a long pause.

"If you're into the whole 'cold rogue' sort of deal." Red added, embarassed.

"Well, we should let them sleep anyway."

"What're we going to do, then?"

"I don't know. What do you usually do?"

"Pick fights with Vincent. Or burn some rocks on the eastern side of Toria."

Yellow raised an eyebrow.

"Well... I also am pretty good at checkers." Red blushed.

"There's nothing wrong with that. I'm sure that there's a board around here, somewhere."

So, Yellow and Red played checkers. Red had to teach her how to play, but after that, she couldn't seem to win against her student!

"Geez!" Red groaned. "You're like a checker goddess, or something."

"Sorry." Yellow laughed a little. "It's just that when I see an opening, I take it. How long have we been playing?"

"A few hours."

"Well, how about we go to sleep early? The boys probably will sleep through the night."

"They're lazy." Red stuck her tongue out.

"Mind your manners, Terra." Yellow said with a friendly sternness, and poked Red's tongue back in.

Charlotte... Red thought, slightly embarrassed.

But, by the time Red reacted, Yellow was already heading back to her room. She swallowed lightly, then went to her own room.

The next morning, Blue was woken up by a knock at the door. It was about eight in the morning. He stretched, and yawned, then walked to the door. He opened it up, and saw a girl. The girl looked about eighteen, and had brown hair, and pink irises. She wore a dark pink sleeveless shirt, dark pink pants, a black belt, black shoes, and a black body suit. She also wore a dark pink cape.

"Great, it's you." Blue scowled.

"Well, look who it is." The girl smiled. "Yamato Blue! How have you been?"

"Don't patronize me, Athena. Why have you come here?"

"I came here to see you and your new friends. James told me that you had become cozy with two girls and a guy, so naturally I was interested."

"I doubt Miyamoto wants any Empire in his house."

"Then, how come you're here?" She smirked. "Oh, right. You defected from us."

"Hey, Yamato..." Green yawned as he came downstairs, fully clothed. "Who's at the door?"

"Nobody important." Blue's scowl became more terrible.

"Whoa." Green blinked in surprise at his visitor. "Who are you?"

"I am Athena Pink." She smiled more. "I'm just a Captain in The Empire."

"You're a Captain?" Green tried to be bold, but it didn't work.

"Miyamoto, what's wrong with you?" Blue glared at him.

"Oh, um... nothing." He chuckled. "Why have you come here, Athena?"

"Well, I just wanted to see what we're dealing with." She beamed. "Might I come in?"

"Sure."

Pink gave Blue a grin, and budged past him. Blue looked at Green in sheer astonishment.

"I was told there are four of you." Pink said to Green. "Might I meet the others?"

"Yes." Blue nodded. "That is a good idea. I'll go wake them now."

"Well, you seem strangely cooperative today." Green looked at Blue.

"Believe me, whatever will get this wretch out of our house quicker is fine with me." Blue walked off.

"How did you find this house?" Green asked Pink.

"I simply asked James for the coordinates." Her sly smile melded into a friendly one. "He had explained to Vincent why he was so ragged, and I happened to overhear the conversation. I was interested, naturally. Vincent told me that he fought a Scout."

"Yeah, it didn't end well." Green groaned.

"Well, Vincent and his cronies are jerks. I'm probably the nicest Captain in The Empire. Tell me, boy. Why are you against us?"

"While your intentions are noble, I simply cannot allow the changes you would bring. I just think that people would suffer too much."

"Listen, friend." Pink paused. "Um, is it okay if I call you friend? We can be friends, right?"

"I... I guess so." Green blinked.

"Okay. Let me tell you something. The Empire isn't only about changing the world. It's about improving the world. Tell me, have you heard about the Order of the Skulls?"

"On a few occasions."

"So then, you must know they are evil. But, since you have so little information about them, you don't know how truly evil they can be. I have had a first hand experience with them, and I barely got out of there in one piece."

"Wait. What happened?"

"I can't go into detail. It's too embarassing and explicit to go into detail." She frowned.

Green didn't understand what she had implied.

"I can understand the removal of the Skulls." He continued. "But why the Police Force? It is their duty to uphold peace on Iota."

"Yes, it is their duty. You are absolutely correct." Pink nodded. "But, they are not taking that responsibility. If they were doing their duties, the Skulls wouldn't exist. The Empire plans on removing the Skulls, first and foremost. The Police want us gone, because we're taking their job, which they don't even do correctly. So, them trying to remove us makes them our enemy. At least, that's the way I look at it. I think Daisaku has a different motive, though I don't know what it is. Since we're fighting the Police, the Vigilantes are after our hides, too. Do you see what kind of mess we're in?"

"I do now. But, do you have your own motives for changing Iota?"

"I would change the economic system. Most people don't see it, but there are people in the streets who have no skills, and are either reduced to begging, or stealing. I would lower the prices, thusly removing a considerable portion of the crime rate."

"All the money gets funded towards the Police, right?"

"Yes. They control the economy, and they claim to be working on new technologies. I certainly haven't seen anything new. They're probably just blowing it all on expensive coffee and Maids."

"Are you out of your mind, Miyamoto?" Red shouted as she walked into the room. "Letting a..."

Pink and Red stared at each other for a moment.

"You!" Red recognized her. "Well, I guess this is a relief. It's a lot better than having that lummox Vincent in here."

"You know you like him." Pink smiled. Who is this girl?

"As if!"

Blue and Yellow walked down the stairs.

"Let's just go to the conference room." Green told them. "I'm sure a lot of you have a lot of questions."

"Oh, sure." Blue rolled his eyes. "While we're at it, let's ask the broad if she wants to spend the night."

Green shot a glare at him. Pink looked at Yellow, who was looking her over.

"Hi, there." Pink waved. "I'm sure that we can be good friends. At the least, acquaintances."

Pink threw an arm around Green as everyone but Blue and Yellow walked to the conference room. Blue noticed the glare that Yellow was giving Pink.

"Um... Charlotte?" Blue spoke.

"She is a no good harlet that is not worth my brother's time." She scowled.

"Look, I don't like her either." Blue told her. "But let's just cooperate, so we can get her the hell out of here as quickly as possible."

The two followed them into the room.
