As I plunged my new sword the Deathbringer into the monster’s chest his black blood poured over my hands. We fell to the streets of the capital city. Citizens scattered as myself and the creature slammed to the streets. I looked to the creature and realized that I dealt a deathblow to one of the Zodiac. Andramalech looked to me with great pain as I came closer to his face. “Hello almighty monster. May I ask why you are here?” I mocked the creature as my sword began to slowly kill him.
Andramalech began to commune telepathically because his jaw was clenched with anger. The darkness is growing near, the ones with no voice are coming at nightfall to destroy the treasure of Dalmasca and you alone cannot stop them. I was stunned was Ultima so brave and bold to attack so soon? The brother’s magic was as well developed as my own but I had the advantage to wield nightmares. Andramalech faded away in death as my sword returned to my hand, and I walked through the crowded streets toward the palace. I arrived and Lady Ashe and her friends began to immediately question me on what had happened. I informed them, Lady Ashe began to cry when she heard of the planned attack on her city. She grasped the jewel around her neck as if she was clinging to life itself.
It was beautiful, a round shimmering diamond enclosed by ribbons of silver that looked as if they could never be broken. I whispered some of the advent language and the stone responded to my plea for mercy as it began to shine uncontrollably around the Queen’s neck. I ran through my memories as fast as I could trying to think of where I knew that stone. Then I remembered as I stepped forward and asked Ashe softly, “Is that the sphere of the mood goddess? And if so where did you get it?” Silent tears rand down her face as she slowly nodded, “It was found in Giruvergan quite a few years ago by my late father.” I started to remember the legend behind the sphere but there were quite a few gaps in my memory so I asked Ashe about the story, but she could not answer me. Instead Fran, the Viera stepped forward to answer my question. “The legend goes that before the worlds were as they are today the five goddesses were constantly at war with each other. Jupiter, Mars, Venus, Mercury and Saturn used their horrible minions to lay waste on the world and would enslave populations to fight for them. Eventually with her great power the Moon Goddess Luminara brought her wrath upon them, she stopped the war and resolved the problems. But the worlds were in ruins and the darkness was starting to gain true power. The goddesses purged the worlds of darkness and locked away the true darkness. The goddesses left a star each to their respective tribes and left a Fayth to protect them. Luminara went a step further and sent two dragons Lumis and his sister Umbra to the worlds to watch for the darkness. Then she presented three nations with a gift. To the Adventists she gave the Lunar Sphere, to the children with wings she left the Lunar Requiem, and to the hidden children to Lunar Mirror. But unfortunately that is all I know.”
I stopped for a few moments I remembered seeing a dark dragon with the Arelx from the future maybe that was the dragon from legend. I paced back and forth until the lovely lady Ashe spoke again. “Arelx if you can stop the Silent Brothers, I will give you the Lunar Sphere since it technically belongs to the Adventists. But the city must not fall to them otherwise you do not get the sphere.”
I walked away, I needed time to think. There had to be a way to stop the silent brothers, maybe I could turn their nightmares against them but I had never done that before. I approached Fran and asked her about the Dalmascan soldiers, “Are there enough soldiers to fight? Can they be here in time for the fight?” Fran said nothing as she led me to the battle room where Vaan, Penelo, and Balthier were waiting. Laying on the enormous table there was a map of Ivalice and there was a red line that was drawn from Giruvegan to halfway to Rabanastre. I assumed they were tracking the progress of the silent brothers. “This is our tactical map, the red line is a mass of troops, we think they were collected by Ultima. There was a raid on Nalbina and most of the murders were taken by a girl named Tira. In one of the cells we found an Advent Child, he said he could make cards do wonderous things but he said he didn’t have them. So we left him there, one day he found one of his cards while walking around. He used the card and a reaper appeared and decapitated another inmate who had been harassing him. We put him in solitary.”
I was stunned, another advent child this close, and apparently very magically inclined. “We need him to come to Rabanastre immediately. And we need to locate some more cards for him.” Balthier was outraged. “You want a murderer to walk free and join us in battle? I won’t have it.” I was absolutely livid my eyes grew solid black as Balthier was lifted in the air by my magic. “How ******** dare you? I know you have killed your fair share of people for your cause! If you don’t order his release immediately I personally will set him free and let the silent brothers have their way with the city.” I released the man as he collapsed on the ground. Fran looked to me and immediately sent a runner to Nalbina.
I knew then that normal species had a natural fear of me but I never understood why. It hit me later like a ton of bricks they feared Adventists because of our remarkable abilities. It was noon when I walked out of the room and only six more hours until the brothers arrived. I sat at the fountain in the square with only 100 troops to save Rabanastre. I had dozed off when someone tapped me on the shoulder. I opened my eyes only to be met by a blue eyed, Platinum haired teenager. “Why are you asleep, you ordered me to be freed now you are asleep what the hell man?” I stood up and asked the other Adventist his name. “My name is Zachary but you can call me Zach. I was raised away from Giruvergan, I’m sixteen but I was alive when Zanarkand was destroyed. I was raised in a different world that was swallowed by the darkness.” I knew from the way he was speaking that he was telling the truth, so I introduced myself and handed him the card that I carried. He looked at me in disbelief as he accepted the card as I felt the energy pulse through him into the card as its name became clear on the back. It was called Rampaging Thorns. Zach had a huge grin on his face as he showed me his other cards. “Now I have three again my Frostbite, Thorns and Death is all I brought to Ivalice with me but normally you can find more or make them.” I just laughed he was so funny, so I informed him of the situation, he just grinned.
“You worry about the brothers, and I will handle the soldiers, I could use the entertainment.” I knew then that I could trust Zach. Looking closely at him I noticed he had blue eyes and short hair, he was thin but not frail. So we waited at the square then sunset came and we heard the thunderous steps of the approaching army. They stopped about a hundred yard from the gate. I stood on the top wall with Zach at my side that way we could get a clear view. The four silent brothers stopped forward and projected telepathically. Open the gates and let us in peacefull and few will die, or we will forcefully take the city from you. I had had enough of them already and they had just got here so I held out my hand and a blast of scathe flew straight and true and killed the brother of earth instantly. Immediately a shot of fire, lightning and ice came in our direction, I waved my hand and the bolts hit and invisible wall. I leaped down from the wall and landed in front of the remaining brothers. If the brothers could speak they would be cursing my name forever. You are supposed to be dead… I cut them off “And you should all be good guys, but hey we can’t always get what we want can we?”
