5 Years Later…
Nikole sat in her bed, wary and tired. Deep down inside, she was happy. She got Amanda back into her life, and they’ve been together for over 5 years now, but, she is also afraid. Afraid that, Cody will bring up ‘Phoenix’ and somehow shatter her years of work of trying to get Amanda back. A sigh escaped Nikole’s lips.
‘What am I to do? Kathryn just died and now Cody wants me to be a ‘mother’ figure to Phoenix…oh god…’
Nikole’s ears perked when she heard the front door shut. ‘Great, now even more pressure to make up my mind…’
Amanda walked into the bedroom and lay down next to Nikole. She looked her body over before running her hands down Nikole’s stomach.
“What’s wrong?” Nikole shuffled around.
“Nothing…”
“Don’t lie to me…”
“Well…” Nikole didn’t want to lie but didn’t want to really say what was on her mind, “Something is on my mind, I just don’t know how to, solve it, I guess.” Amanda pulled Nikole closer to herself.
“Do you want to talk about it?” Nikole turned to face her.
“Maybe, but not until I get a better clearing of the problem.”
“Alright…now, let me get some sleep, I had a rough shift and I need shut eye.”
“Phoenix…Phoenix…PHOENIX!”
“What!?!”
“Get your butt over here and clean your room!” Shuffling of feet was heard approaching the small room. A boy, of about 5 appeared in the doorway, he had dark black hair with streaks of brown on the very tips, his eyes were sea green and he had a frown on his face.
“Dad, I want to go outside…” A tall man, of about 38 loomed over the small child. He had bright blond hair and gorgeous blue eyes. He scowled at his son.
“Once your room is clean, you can go out, understand?” The boy started to mumble under his breath.
“Do you understand what I’m asking of you Phoenix?” His father pushed harder.
“Yes dad…” The frown grew.
“Good…now, please, just clean your room.” As he started to walk out, he felt a small tug on his shirt, looking back, the bright green eyes of his son caught his own.
“Dad, when can we see Auntie Nikki again?" The boy's voice broke Cody's heart.
"Soon son, very soon."
