(This is my short story I wrote for my Language Arts class. I'm still editing so its not gonna be perfect. It's in four parts, so enjoy.)
[indent]I believe I heard Carla's fear cracking through her irritation, because her voice trembled slightly as she began to speak.
[indent]"Are you kidding -- "
[indent]"I'll do it," I said, inturpting Carla.
[indent]My eyes moved to Zeke's, but he only removed his eyes from my stare. Apprently he'd rahter stare at the space above my head instead of my frosted eyes.
[indent]"Are you serious," he said, acting like he'd been joking.
[indent]I nodded and turned my frosted gaze onto Carla and Anna.
[indent]"I'm not doing it," Anna said, crossing her arms across her chest.
[indent]"I knew you wouldn't back down," Carla muttered under her breath, staring at me, then she continued on in a louder voice, "I ain't doin' it either. I value my life." her eyes found me again, and I found myself flinching away from her piercing dark cyan eyes. She walked towards Zeke and even though she was whispering I still managed to hear it. "This is a bad idea," she hissed.
[indent]Zeke shrugged and looked towards me, a grim smile tugging at the corners of his lips. "Alright, but I'll be riding with you to make sure you do it."
[indent]"You shouldn't get a seatbelt either!" Ana said, pointing a torn nail at him.
[indent]"It's his dare, he decides the conditions," I said calmly, glaring at Anna. I could feel Carla's shooked gaze remain plastered on my face, but I refused to meet her eyes.
[indent]"Shake on it," he said, sticking his hand out.
[indent]I shook his hand, which felt oddly clamy. Either he was sweating in the heat of the summer or he was nervous, like I should be. But strangly, I felt nothing. I let the thought go and released his hand. My arm recoiled back to my side as we left to get in line.
[indent]"Please remain seated at all times,"
[indent]The worker's voice blasted throough my ears. As soon as the ride started, Zeke's emerald eyes meant mine.
[indent]"Are you sure -- "
[indent]"I'm sure," I said, staring to undo the buckle.
[indent]I felt the cart jerk forward as the ride began. I swallowed, my throat suddenly feeling dry.
[indent]"It's not a long ride," he assured me.
[indent]I nodded, wondering why I was doing this. I could've reached down and put the seatbelt back on, but my arms refused to do so.
[indent]Truthfully, it hadn't been a long ride. I remained unbuckled in the last cart. I let an uneasy breath slip between my clenched teeth as we headed towards the last corner. I'd forgotten that I hadn't been breathing.
[indent]The cart took the last corner pretty rough, and I felt my grip slipping thanks to the sweat leaking from my palms. I felt myself slip free of the cart. Everything slowed and blurred around me, and soon, all too soon, I felt my fourteen year old body slam against the cool concrete. My vision faded to a sickening gray and finally fell black as I slipped into the darkness. I seering pain screeched across my entire head as I relaxed my body and let my last breath slip out of my white lips.
(I'll post part four sooner or later. Feel free to comment.)
