I Dare You (part 4)
(This is my short story I wrote for my Language Arts class. I'm still editing so its not gonna be perfect. It's in four parts, so enjoy.)

[indent]"Zeke! I told you that it was a bad idea!" I exclimed, shaking his shoulders I knew I had jinxed ourselves.
[indent]Even standing in the middle of a waiting room with people straing at us, I couldn't hold my rage inside of me. It was hard to do so. But Zeke just stood there, staring at his sneakers. I had noticed his red eyes, and I was surprised to find out he had been crying; surprised that I had't started crying yet.
[indent]"I know, carla," he began, " but it was fine up until the last little bit."
[indent]"Don't, I know, Carla, me," I spat, releasing my grip on his shoulders, "She's asleep and we have no idea what's wrojng with her! You're so lucky she didn't die! And don't you know that it always ends badly!" I excalimed.
[indent]He just stood there, giving me the fear that I'd gone overboard with all the yelling. Instead of yelling ore, I stood there, trying to calm my breathing. I laughed slightly, a grim laugh, and threw my hands up, storming out of the room. I let a frustrated sigh slip between my teeth as I entered a near by bathroom.
[indent]I stared at my reflection. My face was flushed and my eyes were wide. My chest was rising and falling quickly because of my rapid breathing. I looked like I could collapse at any moment, but instead of falling to the floor, I through my fist against the counter and rushed out the door and down the hall. I opened Sophie's door slightly, my eyes resting on the pale face that was sleeping in te bed. Her platium hair spread out around her and her chest rose and fell much slower than mine was. She looked peaceful, like nothing was wrong, as far as I knew.
[indent]I really didn't know what to do, so I pulled a chair up besdie the bed. At first, I just stared at the monitar beside me. A steady, rhymic heartbest filled my mind, while nothing else did. I rested my head in one hand and hesitantly reached for her hand with the other. I sat there, just letting the small sounds fill my ears. I really didn't want to think much.
[indent]It wasn't too long after I entered the room that Spohie's eyelids fluttered slightly. Her wide set aqua eyes flickered around the room, confusion dancing across her features. Soon the dazed eyes landed on my face and then our joined hands. She lifted her eyes to meet mine.
[indent]The aqua didn't seem frosted or soild. They seemed like a sea instead of ice, the first time I'd ever seen them like water. Soon, I began to worry. She seemed dazed, and there wasn't a hint of realization in those eyes. I waited for her to speak, and I didn't have to wait long.
[indent]"Why are you holding my hand?" she asked. Her voice didn't seem light and musical like it always did. It sounded flat and lifeless, it sounded just like her eyes. There was nothing there.
[indent]I hesitated for a moment, trying to think of some sensible words. "You're in the hospital, you're my friend, I'm worried and about you, and I'm comforting you."
[indent]"Why?"
[indent]I rolled my eyes, a smile forming on my lips. "Jeez, Sophie, you're one of my friends, so it shoudln't matter if I'm holding your hand or not."
[indent]She blinked a few times, and I noticed the vaccant look in her aqua eyes. This sent even more waves of worry throughout my body.
[indent]"Friend? I don't know you, that's why it matters," she said, then she hesitated slightly before continuing on. "Who's Sophie?"
[indent]I stared at her for a short period, and slowly m hand released hers, recoiling back to my side. My back straightened and my mind started screaming.
[indent]I think I might have lost all of my control, but I kept it all in. I felt like I'd lost my grip on reality; my grip on my sanity. I let out a small whimper.
[indent]"No. No, this can't be happening," I insisted between clenched teeth.
[indent]But it is, I thought.
[indent]I'd finally lost it. My emotions broke through that tough exterior I'd work so hard to build, and I had built it all for no reason.
[indent]the room began to spin sickenly around me, and my stomach shurred with uncertainy and confusion.
[indent]And that's when I blacked out.

(This is the last part, so I hope you enjoyed it. This is seriously how it ends.)
